The perfect destination
Bonaire is an island in the Leeward Antilles in the Caribbean Sea. It is located just off the coast of Venezuela and is one of the ABC islands: Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao.
One of the reasons why Bonaire is a top tourist destination in the Netherlands is because it is famous for scuba diving . For adventurous travelers or those who are passionate about water sports, visiting Bonaire will be a perfect choice.
However, there are still thousands of other reasons that make this island become the jewel of the “land of windmills”. From the majestic natural scenery to the diverse cuisine, this place deserves to be one of the most visited islands in the world.
Bonaire Island has a small airport, about a 10-minute drive from the capital Kralendijk. Kralendijk is home to most of the island’s resorts, so visitors won’t have to worry about where to stay.
In addition, Bonaire's diverse cuisine is one of the experiences that cannot be missed when visitors come here. Famous dishes on the island of Bonaire include tuna, barracuda, mahi-mahi and bonefish... Seafood here is mostly caught directly locally.

CNN suggests that when coming to Bonaire island, enjoying a meal at Cactus Blue Bonaire will be a memorable experience for tourists. As a restaurant operating on a food truck model, Cactus Blue Bonaire not only attracts local diners but also foreign tourists with its famous dish made from lionfish.
The food truck is located near the dive site and serves lunch on weekdays. It is known for its reusable plates and fresh juices.
Enjoy the magic
Bonaire is the least developed of the three islands in the ABC group. But thanks to that, the island still retains the wild beauty that nature has bestowed upon it.
The island of Bonaire has always maintained and promoted the conservation of nature. There are many reserves in Bonaire such as the sea turtle reserve, flamingo sanctuary, donkey sanctuary and coral reef renewal fund… In addition, single-use plastics such as straws have been banned in 2022 to protect the island environment.
Bonaire is also considered a safe land when rated by the US State Department as having the lowest risk level.

The island has a warm climate, many public schools and free health care for residents. Tourists may be surprised to see no traffic lights on the roads or to see goats and flamingos roaming freely all over the island.
With beautiful beaches, good service and a natural environment, exploring the island of Bonaire will definitely be a memorable experience.
Describing the island's appeal, CNN even asserted: "Just one visit is enough to convince tourists to pack up and move to Bonaire permanently."
Take the case of Susan Davis, 60, from Chicago (USA). In 1988, she joined a scuba diving trip to Bonaire. Just 4 years later, Davis said goodbye to life in the US and bought a one-way ticket back there.
“I fell in love with Bonaire,” Ms. Davis confided. “The people here are so kind. When I had a flat tire , other drivers stopped to help. The island seems to have some magic. Tourists who come here for the first time will see a lovely island, with beautiful sea and friendly people. And when they spend a week living here, they will enjoy the magic.”
