On June 4, the leader of Dong Hoa Town Medical Center (Phu Yen) said that they were treating 7 patients with food poisoning after eating a snail buffet at P.D.V. restaurant (in Ward 7, Tuy Hoa City).
These patients were admitted to the emergency room on June 3 with similar symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal cramps. After being treated at the center with antibiotics and intravenous fluids, the health of the 7 patients is now stable. The cause of the above condition is food poisoning.
Currently, the patients' health is gradually recovering and it is expected that they will be discharged from the hospital in 3-5 days.
Ms. Truong Thi Bang Tam (41 years old, in Hoa Hiep Trung ward, Dong Hoa town) who is being treated here said that at around 5pm on June 2, she and her family of 9 went to eat snails on the first floor of P.D.V. restaurant, branch 3, for 140,000 VND/ticket. At around 9pm the same day, all 7 people showed signs of vomiting, abdominal cramps and acute diarrhea.
"My family went to eat snail buffet at P.D.V. restaurant according to a TikToker's review. After eating, when we got home, all 7 people had symptoms of vomiting, while the 2 children who did not eat were fine. By the morning of June 3, all 7 people had to be hospitalized," said Ms. Tam.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Van (35 years old, in Hoa Vinh ward, Dong Hoa town) was also hospitalized on June 3 after eating a snail buffet at P.D.V. restaurant, branch 3.
Accordingly, on the evening of June 2, after returning home from dinner, the whole family had stomachaches and vomited. By noon the next day, she had continuous diarrhea and vomiting, fainted in the bathroom, and was taken to the hospital by her family.
Mr. Vo Ky Lam - Chairman of Ward 7 People's Committee - said that he has received information about the food poisoning of customers. Currently, the locality will coordinate with medical units to inspect the restaurant and verify the information.
Mr. Tran Van Han - owner of P.D.V. buffet branch 3 - said he had received information that customers at the restaurant suffered from food poisoning. The Department of Health has come to work, taking food samples for testing. The restaurant is also trying to contact customers to visit them, and will pay the hospital fees for those who suffered from food poisoning after eating here.
