On the afternoon of May 11, the Traffic Police Department of Thua Thien- Hue Province said that they are investigating the cause of a traffic accident involving a passenger bus on National Highway 1A through Phong Dien District that injured many people.
Accordingly, at 11:40 a.m. the same day, a 36-seat passenger car with license plate 43B - 045.43 carrying 16 passengers was driven by driver Do Xuan H. (born in 1980, residing in Hoa Minh ward, Lien Chieu district, Da Nang city) traveling from Hue to Quang Tri.

When reaching Km 798 + 500 QL1A in Tan Lap residential area (Phong Dien town, Phong Dien district, Thua Thien-Hue province), the passenger bus hit the median strip, leading to a traffic accident. The accident damaged the front of the bus, the wheels fell off in the middle of the road, many sections of the median strip fell down, many passengers on the bus were panicked and scared.
The accident injured bus assistant Tran Huu V. (born in 1988, residing in Hoa Hiep Nam ward, Lien Chieu district, Da Nang city) and 3 passengers including Nguyen Thi G. (born in 1983); Ho Thi KA (born in 2019); Ho Thi KP (born in 2021, all residing in Phuc Loc village, Xuan Loc commune, Phu Loc district, Thua Thien-Hue province). The victims were then transferred to Hue Central Hospital, branch 2 for treatment.
Upon receiving the report, the Traffic Police Department of Thua Thien-Hue Province dispatched officers to examine the scene, regulate traffic and investigate the cause of the accident. Initial investigation determined that the cause of the accident was due to the passenger bus driving on the wrong side of the road.
