Vietnam has conducted an inventory and ranked more than 40,000 historical-cultural relics and scenic spots in localities. With more than 35 heritages of various types recognized by UNESCO, from world cultural and natural heritages, intangible cultural heritages, to world documents and creative cities participating in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, Vietnam is proud of its diverse, advanced culture, imbued with national identity. In particular, the Vietnamese Government is developing and submitting to the National Assembly for approval a National Target Program on Cultural Development for a period of 10 years. In the process of cultural revival, Vietnam always emphasizes the role of the people as the subject of heritage. The community is the subject that creates heritage, holds heritage, practices, transmits heritage, and lives on heritage. Heritage not only has spiritual value but also becomes material wealth, closely linked to the livelihood of the community. Registering heritages not only helps the community recognize and be proud of the heritage values it holds, but also contributes to improving and enhancing people's lives, shifting the economic structure of many localities towards sustainability and inclusiveness.

Recognizing the importance of preserving and promoting the values of world cultural and natural heritages, Vietnam joined the World Heritage Convention in 1987. After more than 35 years of implementing the Convention, Vietnam has made many important strides in terms of awareness, theory and practice in protecting and promoting the values of World Heritage. As an active and responsible member of the 1972 Convention, Vietnam joined the World Heritage Committee for the 2013-2017 term and then continued to make effective and highly professional contributions to the activities of the World Heritage Committee. In 2022, Vietnam will be the first country in the world to organize the 50th Anniversary of the Convention in Trang An (Ninh Binh) with the participation of UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay. UNESCO officials who visited Vietnam, including Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo, Director of the World Heritage Center, all assessed Vietnam as a model for heritage conservation and promotion, and expressed their wish that Vietnam's experience would be shared with other member countries.

With that spirit, Minister Nguyen Van Hung affirmed: "Vietnam is ready to exchange and share experiences and expertise with countries around the world to promote the conservation and promotion of the value of the world heritage system not only in the region but also around the world."

According to Minister Nguyen Van Hung, “Vietnam Heritage Night” is a gift from artists from the Viet Bac Folk Music and Dance Theatre to international friends. The Minister hopes that through this program, “those who have been to Vietnam will love this land more, and those who have not yet been will understand more about the diverse types of cultural heritage of Vietnam, as well as the appreciation and dedication that we have for the work of preserving and promoting the values of cultural heritage”.
