Looking for "red seeds" at the Department of Transport, General Department of Logistics

They have enthusiasm, basic knowledge, serious attitude and sense of responsibility for assigned work... The success of the contest has left many valuable lessons for organizing work as well as discovering and spreading "red seeds" at grassroots units.

Below the hall, listening to the practical lecture of Lieutenant Ngo Thai Bao, Political Commissar of Platoon 3, Company 51, Brigade 972 with the topic "The strategy of "Peaceful evolution" of hostile forces against the Vietnamese revolution", Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Si Quang, Platoon Leader of Platoon 1, Company 3, Battalion 743, Brigade 683, Department of Transport proudly "showed off" to Colonel Nguyen Quang Khai, Political Director of the Department of Transport: "Reporting to the chief, this candidate is my son. Looking at his mature, confident demeanor, mastering the lecture at the contest, I feel very proud of him".

Similarly, with a confident demeanor, mastery of the lesson plan combined with a coherent and flexible way of communicating with practical illustrations, the practical part of the lecture "Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought and the Path to Socialism in Vietnam" by Lieutenant Ha Van Luyen, Deputy Political Commissar of Platoon 1, Company 682, Brigade 971 was highly appreciated by the jury for both the amount of knowledge conveyed as well as the way the candidate communicated.

Sharing with us, Lieutenant Ha Van Luyen and Lieutenant Ngo Thai Bao said: This is a topic that is both easy and difficult, especially for young officers who have just graduated like us. Therefore, to make the lecture convincing, in addition to the amount of knowledge researched and found in documents, we also seek to supplement our knowledge from practical life and society.

With careful preparation, the practical lecture test of Lieutenant Ha Van Luyen and Lieutenant Ngo Thai Bao convinced the judges. Along with that, Luyen and Bao were also confident and handled correctly the additional questions and situations posed by the judges.

Interestingly, among the contestants participating in this contest, there are 3 young officers who have many "things in common": They studied at the same school (Political Officer), graduated in the same year 2022, started working at the same time, were selected to participate in the 2023 Department-level Political Teaching Officer Competition and achieved high results in the contest. They are the contestants: Lieutenant Ha Van Luyen, Deputy Political Commissar of Platoon 1, Company 682, Brigade 971; Lieutenant Tran Minh Dan, Political Commissar of Platoon 5, Company 410, Brigade 683 and Lieutenant Ngo Thai Bao, Political Commissar of Platoon 3, Company 51, Brigade 972.

Colonel Tran Van Lieu, Political Commissar of the Transport Department, Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest, said: Participating in the 2023 Political Teaching Cadre Competition of the Department, the contestants will take part in 3 parts of the competition including preparing lectures; practicing lectures and knowledge. The comrades participated in the competition with a serious spirit, attitude, and high responsibility; preparing the content closely, affirming their own capacity and knowledge. In particular, this year's competition has the participation of many young cadres, including comrades who have just graduated from school, do not have much practical experience, but they have demonstrated a good amount of knowledge and pedagogical ability. We will train these comrades to continue to expand to units throughout the department . "

Party committees and commanders join in

One of the other successes of the 2023 Political Teaching Cadre Competition of the Department of Transport is receiving close attention and support from leaders and commanders of agencies and units.

According to Colonel Nguyen Manh Huan, Political Commissar of Brigade 971: “As soon as we received the guidance document from the Party Committee and the Transport Department, we seriously implemented it, concretizing it closely to the specific tasks of the unit. Through the unit's competition, we selected the comrades with the highest results to continue training to participate in the Transport Department's competition.”

In order for the comrades participating in the department-level competition to achieve high results, the leaders of Brigade 971 summoned the comrades in the team participating in the department-level political lecture to encourage their spirit; conducted trial lectures; invited lecturers from a number of academies and schools to train in pedagogical methods... During the trial lecture, the unit's political commissar directly sat and observed to learn from the good and bad aspects.

Similarly, at Brigade 972, the contestants participating in the contest were given all favorable conditions in terms of time and spirit by the unit's leaders and commanders to have the best mindset to participate in the contest. Before the contest day, Colonel Vu Van Nguyen, Political Commissar of Brigade 972 and other cadres with experience in Party and political work also organized a "mock test" to give feedback to the contestants during the process of practicing the practical lecture.

According to the assessment of the Organizing Committee, in preparation for the contest, the units have organized teams, organized training sessions, prepared lesson plans, and prepared knowledge content seriously and responsibly. The units have all established teams to organize their own training sessions, and invited experienced cadres in the unit to guide, train, and correct, contributing to improving the knowledge, courage, methods, and style of the contestants participating in the contest.

Not only accompanying the candidates right from the base, but also at the contest, the role of the unit's leaders and commanders is clearly affirmed. At the contest, the Organizing Committee conducts a reference form to comment, evaluate, and classify the quality of the candidates and assigns it to the head of the delegation to be responsible. The judges and the Organizing Committee will use it as a reference to evaluate and classify the candidates to ensure substance and objectivity.

Satisfied with this method, Colonel Tran Van Lieu, Political Commissar of the Transport Department, emphasized: Through this method, we want to attach responsibility to the heads of delegations and leaders of units in following and monitoring the progress of the contest. At the same time, it is also one of the bases for the Jury to evaluate and classify the quality of the contestants in a substantial, fair and objective manner.

Replicating the "red seeds"

The contestants are very diverse. In addition to the political cadres, there are also those working in technical expertise, staff, and logistics. The contestants include brigade commanders, company officers, ship and repair shop officers.

With many years of experience participating in competitions, Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Khac Chien, Political Commissar of Battalion 102, Brigade 971, has gained a lot of experience to serve the political teaching work in the unit.

Talking about the lecture topic "Building awareness of respecting the people, promoting democracy, caring for people's lives according to Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style" and the preparation for this contest, Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Khac Chien shared: "The lecture topic is not new to the team of political cadres. To leave an impression on the judges, entering this practical contest, I have prepared carefully from collecting sources of documents, preparing electronic lesson plans with attractive effects, close to the lecture content. Along with that, I invested time in practicing my demeanor and behavior in situations to be able to convey knowledge in the most effective way".

For the young officers we had the opportunity to talk to, most of them believed that in order to have a quality political lecture, it is necessary to first do a good job of preparation, along with a solid grasp of the content of the lecture. At the same time, they came to the contest with the spirit of exchanging and learning from experience. Through the contest, they had the opportunity to learn about the method of organizing a political lecture; learn from their predecessors about the experience of teaching... from which they can draw conclusions for themselves during their work.

It can be said that the contest has created a strong change in the awareness, responsibility and capacity of leadership, direction and educational management of Party committees, political commissars, political officers, commanders, political agencies and political cadres; continuing to innovate and improve the quality and effectiveness of political teaching work at the unit in the new period. The contest is a form and method to help the Party Committee and the command of the Department of Transport grasp the current quality of the team of political cadres and cadres in charge of political teaching work of agencies and units to have a plan to foster and improve comprehensive knowledge and pedagogical skills, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new situation. Through the contest, new and typical factors have been discovered, which is the basis for the Party Committee and command of the Department of Transport to continue to foster and replicate in units in the following years.
