Admission scores for grade 10 at Foreign Language Specialized High School in 2024
On the afternoon of June 14, the Foreign Language Specialized High School under the University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, Hanoi officially announced the 10th grade admission for the 2024-2025 school year.
Speaking with Dan Viet newspaper reporter, Mr. Nguyen Phu Chien, Principal of Foreign Language High School, commented: "This year is the first year that we do not recruit non-specialized students, the quota for specialized students has increased. In general, the standard score (specialized students) is a little lower than last year."
Accordingly, this year, French has the highest standard score with 25.12 points for the specialized program, and 30.95 points for the specialized program with scholarships. Japanese and English both have 25 points. The lowest is Korean with 23.14 points.

Previously, on the morning of June 1, the Foreign Language High School held the entrance exam for grade 10 for the 2024-2025 school year. This year, the number of candidates registering for the grade 10 exam at the school is more than 3,000. With a quota of 525, the school's average competition ratio is about 1/6.
The English class had the largest number of registered candidates, up to 1,491 candidates, but the quota was high so the competition ratio was only 1/7.1. Next was the Chinese class with 691 registered candidates, the competition ratio was 1/9.8; the German class with 527 candidates, the competition ratio was 1/7.5.
The Russian class had the lowest number of applicants with 217 candidates. Last year, the Russian class had a competition ratio of 1/21.3, but this year the competition ratio was a near-record low of 1/6.2. The highest competition ratio was the French class with 1/10.7.
The school organizes the entrance exam for grade 10 with 3 subjects: Subject 1: Assessment of Foreign Language proficiency (coefficient 2). The exam format is multiple choice and essay, within 90 minutes; Subject 2: Assessment of Math and Natural Science proficiency (coefficient 1). The exam format is multiple choice and essay, within 55 minutes; Subject 3: Assessment of Literature and Social Science proficiency (coefficient 1). The exam format is multiple choice and essay; within 55 minutes.
For Foreign Language, candidates can choose one of the following languages: English, French, Chinese, German, Japanese, Korean. English can be used to enter all 7 specialized classes, the remaining foreign languages are only used for the corresponding specialized class.
