Condolences on the passing of former Party Chairman and former President of Laos Khamtai Siphandone

Upon hearing the news of the passing of General Khamtai Siphandone, former Party Chairman and former President of Laos, on April 2, 2025, the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the President, the Government, the National Assembly, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front sent condolences.

The content of the condolence telegram sent to the Central Executive Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, and the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction, is as follows:

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam , the President, the Government, the National Assembly, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Vietnamese People would like to express their deepest condolences upon hearing of the passing of General Khamtai Siphandone, former Chairman of the Party and former President of Laos, on April 2, 2025.

Comrade Khamtai Siphandone, an outstanding leader of the first generation, a key member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, an outstanding son of the Lao people, a loyal revolutionary soldier who sacrificed his whole life to fight for national independence, freedom, happiness of the people and the prosperous development of Laos.

The passing of Comrade Khamtai Siphandone is a great loss to the Lao Party, State, People and his family. The Party, State, Army and People of Vietnam have lost a great friend, a very close comrade and brother who fought side by side in the long resistance wars of the two nations. He always supported the Vietnamese people's cause of national construction and defense and made many important contributions to building, consolidating and developing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

The Party, State and People of Vietnam highly appreciate the great contributions of comrade Khamtai Siphandone to the Lao people's struggle for national independence in the past as well as in the cause of innovation, protection, construction and development of Laos today.

The Party, State, Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Vietnamese People would like to send to the Party, State, Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction, the Lao People and the family of comrade Khamtai Siphandone their deepest condolences.

We believe that the Lao Party, State, People and the family of comrade Khamtai Siphandone will soon overcome this great loss and grief, and continue the work of building Laos to become increasingly prosperous and developed.
