Prime Minister arrives in Kuala Lumpur, begins working trip to attend ASEAN Summit

Early morning on October 26 (local time), the plane carrying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation arrived in Kuala Lumpur, starting a working trip to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit and related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from October 25 to 28, 2025 at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on the Malaysian side were Malaysian Minister of Education Fadhlina Sidek; Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam Dato' Tan Yang Thai; Director of the Protocol Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia; Representative of the Prime Minister's Office and Liaison for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

On the Vietnamese side, there were Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Dinh Ngoc Linh; Embassy staff and representatives of Vietnamese people in Malaysia.

During the three days in Kuala Lumpur, the Prime Minister is expected to attend and speak at meetings within the framework of the 47th ASEAN Summit; attend the ASEAN Awards Ceremony and the Signing Ceremony of the Declaration on the Admission of Timor-Leste to ASEAN; and attend ASEAN Summits with partners from the United States, China, India, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and the United Nations.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will co-chair the 13th Mekong-Japan Summit; attend the 3rd Zero Net Emission Asian Community Leaders' Meeting, the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit, the 28th ASEAN + 3 Summit, the 19th East Asia Summit (EAS), the 5th RCEP Summit, etc.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister had bilateral meetings with leaders of countries and international organizations attending the Conference and many other important activities.

At the 47th ASEAN Summit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of the countries will assess the results of ASEAN cooperation in 2025 under the theme "Inclusive and Sustainable", and orient the building of the ASEAN Community in the coming time, especially on the basis of building a roadmap and prioritizing the implementation of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and strategic plans on politics-security, economics, culture-society and connectivity; improving the effectiveness of ASEAN-led mechanisms, substantivizing ASEAN's foreign relations; consolidating and promoting ASEAN's central role and discussing international and regional issues of common concern.

On this special occasion, the leaders of the countries will sign the Declaration on the admission of Timor-Leste into ASEAN.

At the ASEAN Summits with partners, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of ASEAN countries and partners will review and orientate the promotion of relations between ASEAN and partners, especially strengthening cooperation in areas of current concern such as trade, investment, market diversification, supply chains, science and technology, innovation, response to climate change, epidemics, natural disasters and exchange on the international and regional situation.

Through the conferences, Vietnam affirmed its active participation and responsible contribution to the common success of the conferences; maintained solidarity and consensus within ASEAN; contributed to common work, especially maintaining a peaceful and stable environment in the region; diversified relations and markets, strengthened ASEAN connectivity, and was ready to consider supporting and promoting the effective implementation of initiatives of countries and partners in accordance with the interests of Vietnam and ASEAN and peace, security and development in the region and the world./.
