After the circulation of storm No. 11 (MATMO) caused heavy rain, flooding, and landslides in many localities in the North, the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) has made efforts to overcome the problem, gradually restoring power to people and businesses. By 7:00 a.m. on October 10, EVNNPC said it had restored power to 421,293 customers, equivalent to 76.6% of the total number of affected customers, increasing the recovery rate by nearly 4 percentage points compared to the report on the afternoon of October 9 (73%).

According to EVNNPC statistics, the total number of customers in the provinces affected by storm No. 11 is 4,101,436; of which 549,915 customers lost power due to heavy rain and flooding. Currently, 128,622 customers are temporarily without power because the area is still isolated or not yet safe.

The circulation after storm No. 11 caused heavy rain, flash floods and serious flooding in many localities such as Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Bac Ninh ... Rising water flooded many areas, forcing power units to proactively cut off power temporarily in places where power lines and transformer stations were no longer safe.

As of the afternoon of October 9, Thai Nguyen Power Company (PC Thai Nguyen ) has restored power supply to two 110kV transformer stations including Thai Nguyen Cement (2x40MVA) and Thinh Dan (2x63MVA).

For the medium voltage grid, the total number of lines and branches that had to be temporarily cut off to ensure safety was 133; of which nearly 50% had been restored, while 77 lines and branches had not been restored, mainly in Thai Nguyen (30 lines), Bac Ninh (21 lines), Lang Son (20 lines) and Cao Bang (6 lines).

There are currently more than 1,000 transformer stations without power, of which the most affected localities include Thai Nguyen (386 stations), Bac Ninh (636 stations), Lang Son (75 stations) and Cao Bang (63 stations). As of the morning of October 10, units have restored 1,435 out of a total of 2,595 transformer stations, an increase of 160 stations compared to the morning of October 9.

At Thai Nguyen Electricity Company, 100% of the drainage pumping stations (2 stations) have had their power restored, contributing to supporting drainage in urban and low-lying areas, helping to reduce the risk of prolonged flooding.

To speed up the restoration process, the Northern Power Service Company (NPSC) sent a shock team of 53 laboratory workers to reinforce Thai Nguyen PC from the morning of October 9, supporting troubleshooting and safety checks before re-energizing.
