Local adjustment of Da Nang airport planning

The Ministry of Transport has just approved local adjustments to the Da Nang International Airport Planning for the period up to 2030.


According to the decision, the cargo terminal, cargo yard and parking lot will be planned in the northern area of the airport, adjacent to the regulating lake, with an area of about 2.46 hectares, meeting the capacity of about 100,000 tons/year.

The Ministry of Transport requested the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to coordinate with relevant units to continue reviewing the planning of projects to propose adjustments and supplements to suit the needs of exploitation and development investment.

Other construction items are kept unchanged according to Decision No. 3066/2015 of the Ministry of Transport on approving the adjustment of the Detailed Planning of Da Nang International Airport for the period up to 2020, with a vision to 2030.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam is responsible for presiding over and coordinating with relevant agencies to manage and implement the planning in accordance with current regulations. At the same time, review and complete the planning documents and drawings to ensure compliance with the approved planning content and appraisal opinions of the Department of Planning and Investment.

During the implementation of the planning, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and related units continue to review the planning of the projects to propose adjustments and supplements to suit the needs of exploitation and development investment, as well as update the adjusted content during the planning process for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

In the next implementation steps, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and relevant units will continue to review, calculate and determine technical factors to ensure reasonableness, make adjustments and handle contents within their authority, and report to the Ministry of Transport for consideration of contents beyond their authority (if any).

According to the detailed planning of Da Nang International Airport for the period up to 2020, with a vision to 2030, the port is a level 4E airport (according to the standard code of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and a level I military airport, meeting the capacity of 11-13 million passengers/year, 50,000 tons of cargo/year. The port operates aircraft types B747, B777, B787, A320, A321, A350 and equivalent.

Planning orientation to 2030, continue to upgrade, renovate, and construct works such as taxiways, aircraft parking lots; passenger and cargo terminals, aircraft maintenance, off-site parking stations, assembly, repair, maintenance of ground equipment, inspection, food processing, flight operations management, fire rescue, fuel supply... and traffic infrastructure works, water supply, drainage, electricity supply, waste treatment... to meet transportation needs to ensure improved quality of transportation and services.

The planning indicators of this phase will be specifically determined after the Adjusted Plan for the Development of Vietnam's Air Transport to 2030 is approved by competent authorities.
