The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has just issued a decision to suspend the operation of the Than Dong 8 Foreign Language Center, located at 1232 Quang Trung Street, Ward 8, Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City, due to the discovery of a series of violations in foreign language training activities.
At the same time, the Department requested that this center refund all tuition fees collected from parents and students.
Previously, the inspection team of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City conducted a surprise inspection at this facility. At the time of the inspection, the center had no classes in progress, only an administrative staff who had only been working for two days and could not contact the person in charge of management.
However, there are many signs that the center is still operating, such as the class schedule notice board posted at the reception area, classrooms fully equipped with desks, chairs, books, whiteboards, and classroom rules posted.
The center is advertising Super Stars English programs; Cambridge exam preparation; 100% English summer boarding; Q+ Summer Joy. At the same time, it is organizing 4 children's English classes with tuition fees from May 1, 2025 to May 31, 2025.
Through examining the records, the Department determined that the Than Dong 8 Foreign Language Center had not been licensed to operateeducation in accordance with legal regulations. Specifically, the center had not been recognized as an executive director, had not submitted an application for a license, and had not provided complete documents related to its teaching staff, personnel, tax obligations, and policies for employees. Despite not completing legal procedures, the center still collected tuition fees and organized teaching classes, seriously violating regulations of the education sector.
From the above results, the inspection team noted signs of violations of regulations on organizing educational activities or providing educational services without permission to operate.
Than Dong 8 Foreign Language Center is one of 33 facilities in the Than Dong Foreign Language system, specializing in English training for children from 3 to 14 years old, organizing Cambridge certificate exam preparation classes and 100% English summer boarding programs. This system has been widely promoted.
