In the semi-final, Djokovic lost 0-3 (4-6, 5-7, 6-7) to world number 1 Jannik Sinner. Before leaving the court after the defeat, the 38-year-old legend put his racket bag down on the clay court and bid a heartfelt farewell to the crowd in Paris.
He bent down to touch the clay of Court Philippe Chatrier before placing his hand over his heart and waving to the crowd. It felt like a final farewell for a player who had turned 38.
In the press conference afterwards, Djokovic also admitted: "This could be my last match at Roland Garros. And it's great because I've never had so many fans cheering me on against a big opponent. I think Wimbledon is where I have the best chance to win another Grand Slam. The goal is to play Wimbledon and the US Open. I'm not sure about the remaining tournaments."
Djokovic also congratulated Sinner: "I did what I could and I shook Jannik's hand because he is better than me."
According to statistics, the Serbian tennis player has won 101 matches at Roland Garros since his debut in 2005, just behind the 112 wins of "King of Clay" Rafael Nadal.
Meanwhile, with this victory, Jannik Sinner will enter the Roland Garros final for the first time and his opponent is defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, who won the right to the final match after opponent Lorenzo Musetti withdrew due to injury.
