During the gratitude journey in Quang Tri province, the delegation laid wreaths and offered incense at the Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery and the Road 9 National Martyrs' Cemetery. The Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery (Gio Linh district) has more than 10,000 martyrs' graves; the Road 9 National Martyrs' Cemetery (Dong Ha city) has nearly 11,000 martyrs' graves. These two cemeteries are the resting places of heroic martyrs nationwide who sacrificed heroically during the resistance war against the US to save the country.
At the martyrs' cemeteries, the delegation offered incense at the Monument to Heroic Martyrs and the martyrs' graves of Dien Bien and Lai Chau provinces. On behalf of the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Dien Bien province, the delegation respectfully bowed, expressing their infinite gratitude to the great contributions of generations of fathers and brothers who devoted their youth and sacrificed for national independence, freedom of the Fatherland, and for the happiness of the people.
Before the souls of the heroic martyrs, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vu A Bang, on behalf of the Party Committee, government, army and people of all ethnic groups in Dien Bien province, pledged to continue promoting the revolutionary tradition, consolidating the great solidarity bloc, promoting democracy, stepping up emulation movements in labor production, determined to build the homeland of Dien Bien to become more and more developed and modern.
On the same day, the delegation of Dien Bien province came to offer incense, commemorate and pay tribute to the great contributions of the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the 81-day and night campaign to fight and protect Quang Tri Citadel (1972); offered incense and released flowers on the southern bank of Thach Han River.
On this occasion, Dien Bien province presented the "Gratitude Fund" of Quang Tri province with 30 million VND.
