Monitoring the implementation of information and communication policies in ethnic minority and mountainous areas

On the afternoon of October 24, at the headquarters of the Provincial People's Council, the Thematic Supervision Delegation of the Ethnic Minority Committee (Provincial People's Council) worked with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and relevant departments and branches on "Implementation of information and communication policies in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in Dien Bien province, period 2021-2025".

Attending the meeting were Comrade Luong Thi Hong Nhung - Deputy Head of the Ethnic Minorities Committee of the Provincial People's Council - Head of the delegation and members of the Supervisory Delegation; Comrade Nguyen Hoang Hiep - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, leaders of relevant professional and technical departments.

At the working session, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, on behalf of departments, branches, and People's Committees of communes and wards, reported on the implementation results of "Implementation of information and communication policies in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in Dien Bien province, period 2021-2025".

Accordingly, in recent times, the implementation of information and communication policies in ethnic minority areas in Dien Bien province has been closely directed by all levels and sectors, organized seriously, promptly, synchronously and achieved many important and comprehensive results in all fields. Leadership, direction and operation have been carried out closely and uniformly. Information, propaganda and foreign information work in ethnic minority and mountainous areas has been deployed increasingly in a disciplined, effective and practical manner. The strong development of telecommunications infrastructure and the Internet has created favorable conditions for IT application and digital transformation. The team of grassroots cadres and propagandists has improved their professional skills and has the skills to approach the community, especially ethnic cadres. Propaganda content focuses on disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; raising awareness, sense of law observance and civic responsibility of people of all ethnic groups.

Members of the monitoring delegation requested departments and branches to clarify some detailed contents: the effectiveness of the work of disseminating and educating the law on the issues of early marriage and consanguineous marriage in ethnic minority areas, the work of organizing, implementing, inspecting and supervising the implementation of foreign propaganda information...

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Head of the Ethnic Committee, Provincial People's Council Luong Thi Hong Nhung - Head of the monitoring delegation highly appreciated the results achieved by the departments in the past time. At the same time, she requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to continue to coordinate with relevant departments to review and supplement data to synthesize a report to send to the Ethnic Committee before October 30.
