Speaking at the Social Democratic Party (SPD) congress on December 9, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called on his party to unite to overcome the current difficulties. He said that in the current difficult times, what the SPD needs is a united and strong party.
Mr. Scholz recalled the SPD's victory in the 2021 federal election, when the SPD was also in a "difficult situation", but the party achieved unexpected success in the election.
Regarding the 2024 budget, Chancellor Scholz is optimistic that the Traffic Light coalition will find a solution to the dispute. According to him, implementing the Federal Constitutional Court's ruling on the budget is "a very difficult task", but it is not "an insurmountable task".
Regarding the conflict in Ukraine, the German leader pledged to continue supporting Kiev. He stressed that Germany will continue to provide Kiev with both financial and military equipment, even if it is a major financial challenge for Germany.
