Unite to build cultural life, preserve national cultural identity

Happy Festival at Chau Thanh residential area, An Ninh commune.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Thien, Head of the Chau Thanh Hamlet Front Work Committee, with more than 1,100 households, including nearly 300 Khmer households, Chau Thanh is a place where solidarity gathers.

In 2025, the Front Work Committee organized 14 propaganda sessions, attracting nearly 600 participants, contributing to spreading the patriotic emulation movement and strengthening the great national unity bloc. Rural infrastructure continued to be invested, 1,055 households had solid houses, no more temporary houses. The projects "Lighting up the countryside roads" and "National flagpole route" were unanimously implemented by the people with 280 flagpoles and 117 lighting fixtures, making the residential area bright, green, clean and beautiful. Models of rice growing cooperatives, agricultural service cooperatives, and cow raising support for poor households helped people have jobs and increase their income. The whole hamlet had 1,078/1,119 households achieving the title of Cultural Family (98.2%), which are being proposed for recognition as cultural hamlets according to new criteria.

Ms. Thach Na Qui, residing in Chau Thanh hamlet, shared: “This year I am very happy because our Khmer people’s lives are getting more and more attention; the roads are convenient, electricity and water are fully invested, and our children are all going to school. I am even happier because this year the Chairman of the National Assembly is coming to visit.”

Chau Thanh Hamlet pays special attention to preserving and promoting Khmer cultural identity, such as: Bo Tum Reng Say Tum Nup Pagoda, over 400 years old, is the center of religious and cultural activities of the people; every year, the Ooc Om Boc festival - traditional Ngo boat racing of the Khmer people is organized solemnly, economically, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity and joy. The pagoda's men's and women's boat teams have won the championship in the Mekong Delta region and Can Tho city for 3 consecutive years, becoming the pride of the village and the village.

Venerable Lam Hiep, Abbot of Bo Tum Reng Say Tum Nup Pagoda, shared with excitement: “We always want to maintain the good traditional values of the Khmer people, so that the young generation can understand and be proud of their cultural roots. Participating in the festival and Ngo boat racing is not only a sporting activity, but also an opportunity to connect the community, arouse the spirit of solidarity, and strive for good and peaceful things.”

The movements of the whole people protecting national security and “Families without criminals, no drug possession or use” have received positive responses from the people. Thanks to that, the security and order situation has been stable, the people trust and agree with the government. The propaganda work of the Law on Democracy at the grassroots level has been widely deployed, helping people raise their legal awareness.

At the National Great Unity Day of An Ninh commune, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his joy at the changes of the commune, especially Chau Thanh hamlet; praised the spirit of solidarity and consensus of officials and people, acknowledged the outstanding results in building new rural areas, preserving Khmer cultural identity and the Ngo boat racing movement.

The National Assembly Chairman requested Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations at all levels to continue promoting the strength of great solidarity, taking care of people's lives, effectively implementing socio-economic development programs, and striving to build An Ninh commune into a model, advanced new rural commune - a place of solidarity, affection, civilization and sustainable development.

Chau Thanh Hamlet today, the brightly lit streets, the solid houses, the sound of festival drums, the dances, the bustling songs, all blend into a melody of faith and aspiration - towards the future. Ms. Huynh Thi Ngoc Tim, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Ninh Commune, affirmed: "In the new period, the spirit of great national unity will be further promoted to sustainably develop the homeland".
