Doan Ngoc Tan has a broken fibula and will miss Vietnam's match against Malaysia.

Information from Thanh Hoa Club confirmed that midfielder Doan Ngoc Tan suffered a broken fibula during a recent training session with the team and is expected to be out of action for at least 3 months.

At the match between Hanoi Club and Thanh Hoa on the evening of April 6, Doan Ngoc Tan appeared in the stands with his right leg in a cast and a pair of crutches.

Since the beginning of the 2024 - 2025 season, Doan Ngoc Tan has been among the mainstays playing the most for Thanh Hoa Club in all competitions, with 1,871 minutes of play, 21 appearances (out of a total of 22 matches).

Doan Ngoc Tan's injury will certainly make coach Kim Sang Sik worried.

Since the ASEAN Cup 2024, a series of players have been suffering from injuries and physical problems, the latest cases being Bui Vi Hao (torn ankle ligament), Pham Ly Duc (sprained knee ligament), or before that Bui Hoang Viet Anh, Vu Van Thanh, Nguyen Dinh Bac, Ho Tan Tai, Nguyen Xuan Son.

According to plan, the Vietnamese team will gather on May 26 in Hanoi to prepare for the away match against Malaysia on June 10.

This is an important match for both Vietnam and Malaysia in competing for the only ticket of Group F to the 2027 Asian Cup finals.

After the first leg in Malaysia on June 10, the two sides will meet again in the second leg in Vietnam on March 31, 2026.

Regarding the replacement for Doan Ngoc Tan, coach Kim Sang Sik has only had one experiment with midfielder Vo Hoang Minh Khoa, and achieved some positive signals in the 5-0 win over Laos, the first round of Group F of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.
