During the Lunar New Year of the Snake 2025, tourism activities in Ho Chi Minh City showed positive signs. Revenue increased by 17.4% compared to the same period in 2024, reaching 7,690 billion VND.

On the afternoon of February 6th, information regarding tourism in Ho Chi Minh City was presented at a press conference on the socio -economic situation, held at the Tuoi Tre newspaper's editorial office to mark the beginning of the new year. This was the first time this press conference was held directly at a newspaper's editorial office, instead of the usual Press Center.
According to Ms. Dinh To Hoa, Deputy Head of the Tourism Information and Technology Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, the number of international visitors to the city during the 2025 Lunar New Year is estimated at around 87,000. The number of visitors staying at tourist areas and attractions is expected to reach approximately 2.1 million.
"In particular, the city's revenue reached an impressive 7,690 billion VND, 17.4% higher than last year," Ms. Hoa said.
Ms. Hoa added that preparations to serve tourists during this period had been implemented by the city very early on. Travel companies have launched many diverse and attractive services in Ho Chi Minh City. A highlight is the Nguyen Hue Flower Street with the theme "Beautiful Landscape, Joyful Spring," serving the public from the 28th day of the 12th lunar month to the 5th day of Tet.
The flower street features activities showcasing Tet (Lunar New Year) culture, food stalls, and more, with the participation of representatives from diplomatic agencies of various countries.

In addition, the Spring Flower Market on the Wharf and on the Boat, with over 700 stalls selling fruits, vegetables, etc., has contributed to creating an attractive cultural space that blends traditional and modern elements.
At the Spring Flower Market, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism also created the "Road of Compassionate Flowers." Through this program, approximately 9,500 flower pots were purchased to decorate the Road of Compassionate Flowers and donated to disadvantaged families and neighborhoods. The flower road attracted about 10,000 visitors.
Attractions such as Dam Sen Cultural Park, Suoi Tien Cultural Tourist Area, and Cu Chi Tunnels historical site also offer many unique activities, attracting a large number of tourists to visit and have fun.
In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, together with related units, organized the "Giving Spring of Love" program for 3,000 orphaned, disabled, and disadvantaged children in the city and some neighboring provinces. The total cost of the program was approximately 2 billion VND.
Ho Chi Minh City aims to achieve a total tourism revenue of 260,000 billion VND by 2025, with 8.5 million international visitors and 45 million domestic visitors.
This year, Ho Chi Minh City's tourism sector will focus on diversifying tourism products, promoting nighttime tourism and shopping. Simultaneously, it will apply digital technology to increase communication effectiveness and strongly focus on the Northeast Asian market, developing new direct flights to Australia and North America.
Hotels are reducing room rates by 20-25%.
Hotels in Ho Chi Minh City are busy cleaning and decorating their interiors and exteriors to welcome the traditional Lunar New Year. To provide guests with joyful experiences, 3- to 5-star hotels are organizing various New Year's activities such as watching fireworks from restaurants and holding lion dance performances on the morning of the first day of Tet.
To celebrate the Lunar New Year, hotels have offered discounts of 20-30% on some services. They have also reduced airport shuttle services by 25% and room rates by 20-25%.
The nine-day Lunar New Year holiday provides an opportunity for tourists to travel. Tourists tend to travel in small groups. Tourism businesses are launching many attractive discount and promotional programs, such as discounted tickets and travel packages.
