A variety of activities to attract readers

In recent times, authorities at all levels and departments, branches, sectors and units have paid attention to directing the organization of many practical activities, contributing to promoting the reading movement. In particular, Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day has been organized extensively, practically and meaningfully; many good models, creative ways of doing things, along with reading and learning promotion programs have created a cultural space that attracts people's attention, promotes reading habits and nurtures a love of books.

Joining in the atmosphere of the Danang Reading Culture Festival 2025, this year the University of Foreign Languages ​​(University of Danang) continues to organize "Book Week" with the theme "Reading Culture - Connecting the Community". This is a meaningful activity towards the 40th anniversary of the school's establishment and development.

During the book week, many students actively participated in activities taking place on campus such as displaying and introducing books from partner organizations, summarizing school library activities, and training in reading copyrighted books on digital platforms. Each activity is a lively piece, contributing to spreading the love of books, encouraging the spirit of self-study and the desire for lifelong learning.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Long, Principal of the University of Foreign Languages, said that the book week organized by the school every year is not only an occasion to honor the value of books, but also a space to connect the academic community in the spirit of sharing, learning and creativity.

This is an opportunity for every staff, lecturer and student to look back at the essential role of reading culture in teaching, learning, research and nurturing a lifelong, humane and progressive learning society. Reading helps learners broaden their horizons, gain a deeper understanding of their profession, and at the same time cultivate their personality and professional qualities. That is also the key for each student to continuously develop comprehensively in the context of lifelong learning and global integration", Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Long emphasized.

From April 20 to 27, the Da Nang Reading Culture Festival 2025 with the theme "Reading Culture - Connecting the Community" organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism at APEC Park attracted a large number of people, especially teenagers, students, youth union members as well as authors, researchers, people working in the fields of publishing, printing, distribution, libraries, collecting and promoting books to participate, thereby contributing to creating a diverse and close book space, promoting the spread of reading culture to the public in the city.

Create a playground, develop creative thinking

In addition to the activities of introducing, displaying and selling books by publishing and book distribution units such as: Tre Publishing House, Vietnam Book Culture Knowledge Joint Stock Company, Kim Dong Publishing House, Phuong Nam, Nha Nam... this year's Da Nang Reading Culture Festival also organizes many attractive events to create a new space for young people such as artistic book stacking contest, book character costume contest, book promotion contest.

The works and entries show investment, creativity, combined with lively performance forms, thereby helping students develop language skills, presentation skills, contributing to spreading the passion for books to the community. In particular, the STEM Robotics science experience program is a useful playground that helps students have the opportunity to explore the world of robots and technology, learn STEM skills, thereby stimulating exploration, discovery, developing creative thinking, problem solving, and improving teamwork skills.

In addition, the organizing committee launched a movement to support books in school libraries, community learning centers in communes and wards; provided advice on library facilities, issued free library cards and organized poetry - music nights for cultural and artistic exchanges such as Bui Giang's poetry night, Trinh's music... to attract the participation of many clubs in the city. Through practical activities, it has aroused the love of reading, especially among the young generation; promoted the reading movement in the community, family, school; contributed to building a learning society and promoting the cultural strength of the Vietnamese people in the spirit of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the fourth Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day brings three messages: Reading culture - Connecting the community; Entering the era of national growth with books; Reading books - enriching knowledge, nurturing aspirations, promoting innovation and creativity. "The series of activities and events celebrating Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day have contributed to promoting the beauty of traditional culture, encouraging and developing the reading movement in the community. Book and Reading Culture Day also plays an important role in inspiring the passion for reading for generations," Ms. Phuong emphasized.

To bring books closer to readers, the city's Department of Culture and Sports recommends that agencies and units strengthen coordination to promote propaganda, encourage and develop the reading movement in families, schools, agencies, organizations and communities; discover and honor organizations and individuals who have contributed to the development of books and reading culture in the city; organize seminars, discussions, and knowledge exchanges on reading trends, share information on how to use technology and new electronic reading platforms. In addition, organize online book clubs to discuss works through online platforms...
