While Apple fans are counting down the days to September 19 to own the new iPhone 17 and iPhone Air series, Xiaomi has unexpectedly "broken" the monopoly of the American technology giant by announcing the launch of its own new smartphone line on this very day.
As per the usual schedule, Xiaomi will launch the Xiaomi 16 series this year, following the Xiaomi 15 launched in October last year.
However, to create a direct confrontation with the iPhone 17, Xiaomi decided to "jump" straight to the Xiaomi 17, and at the same time change the product naming to Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, similar to how Apple names the new iPhone line.

Not keeping the design a secret, Xiaomi has continuously released images and videos introducing the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, the highest-end version, with the highlight being the unique secondary screen on the back.
The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max's triple rear camera cluster, branded with Leica, has a resolution of 50 megapixels, including a telephoto camera that supports 5x optical zoom. This camera cluster is designed to be large, extending the entire width of the body, reminiscent of the iPhone 17 Pro.
In particular, the sub-screen integrated in the camera cluster allows displaying time, supporting photo taking or customizing the display of personal content.
In terms of configuration, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max is rumored to be the first smartphone in the world equipped with Qualcomm's highest-end Snapdragon 8 Elite 5 chip, along with a huge battery capacity of up to 7,500mAh.

Xiaomi's choice of September 19 to launch the Xiaomi 17 series is not a coincidence, but a communication strategy to attract the attention of the technology industry and users.
The question is whether Xiaomi 17 is competitive enough and can overcome the appeal of iPhone 17 to conquer users. The answer will be available when the product is officially launched.
