The Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology in Sweden recently held a meeting with a number of Vietnamese experts, scientists, and postgraduates working and studying in the field of science and technology in the area.
More than 30 delegates from many Swedish agencies, businesses, universities and localities attended the program, both in person and online.
According to VNA correspondent in Europe, speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Tran Van Tuan emphasized the important role of the team of Vietnamese experts, scientists and researchers abroad in general and in Sweden in particular in the development of the country, including the fields of economics - trade - investment and science - technology.
The Ambassador called on Vietnamese experts in the area, with their knowledge, experience, abilities and especially their hearts towards the Fatherland, to make more contributions to the development of science and technology in the country, supporting Vietnamese representative agencies to increase the attraction of leading Swedish corporations and enterprises to cooperate, invest and do business in Vietnam, especially in areas where Sweden has strengths and we have needs such as: green transformation, digital transformation, energy transformation, innovation...
In particular, with the characteristic that Sweden is the world's leading developed country in science and technology, the Vietnamese community here has about 22,000 people but there is no organization that gathers Vietnamese experts and scientists. Ambassador Tran Van Tuan hopes to be able to build an Association of Vietnamese Science and Technology Experts in Sweden to further promote the intellectual potential of our community in the area.
Participating in the meeting, delegates expressed their thoughts and aspirations to contribute to the country's science and technology, stating that the intelligence and skills of Vietnamese scientists are not inferior to those of foreign colleagues, including those from Sweden.
However, due to some mechanisms and policies that are not really open and the facilities are somewhat limited, the team of domestic science and technology experts have not had the conditions to demonstrate their full capabilities.
For their part, the delegates said they were ready to become a bridge to bring Swedish corporations and businesses in the field of science and technology to cooperate with Vietnam.
Some delegates suggested that the Vietnamese Embassy help connect with domestic agencies and organizations to guide and facilitate the implementation of some charity programs such as the heart surgery project for disadvantaged domestic children.
Delegates also agreed with the direction of building an organization that brings together Vietnamese experts, scientists, and researchers in the area, saying that this activity will help create a forum for Vietnamese experts to exchange information, communicate, share, and help each other in work and life.
However, in order for the establishment of the Association of Vietnamese Science and Technology Experts in Sweden to bring about the desired results, it is necessary to have careful research and discussion by dedicated individuals, taking into account the specific conditions of the Swedish locality and referring to the models of similar associations in neighboring countries.
At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Tran Van Tuan thanked and appreciated the enthusiastic opinions of the delegates attending the program, saying that the Embassy will convey the thoughts, aspirations and cooperation and working plans of the team of experts, scientists and postgraduates in the area to the domestic authorities, contributing to opening up the flow of science and technology between Sweden and Vietnam./.
