Mr. Qui asked, based on the Law on Emulation and Commendation, in his case, will he be awarded the Third Class Glorious Soldier Medal?
Regarding this issue, the Ministry of Home Affairs responded as follows:
Clause 1, Article 57 of the Law on Emulation and Commendation stipulates: "The Glorious Soldier Medal is awarded or posthumously awarded to soldiers, workers, civil servants, and defense officials of the People's Army; officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, and workers working in agencies and units of the People's Public Security who successfully complete assigned tasks."
Pursuant to the above provisions, the "Glorious Soldier Medal" is awarded or posthumously awarded to soldiers, workers, civil servants, and defense officials working in the People's Army, ensuring that they meet the criteria prescribed in Clause 2 or Clause 3, Article 57 of the Law on Emulation and Commendation (effective from January 1, 2024).
Mr. Ha Trong Qui was discharged from the army in December 1987 and is not currently working in the People's Army, so he is not eligible for the "Glorious Soldier Medal" according to the criteria specified in Article 57 of the Law on Emulation and Commendation.
