Energizing the 220kV Phu Binh 2 Transformer Station project, promptly meeting the increasing electricity demand in Thai Nguyen

This is a project of special significance, not only to welcome the 4th Congress of the Party Committee of Vietnam National Electricity Group, but also to affirm the key role of EVNNPC in implementing 220kV power projects of important scale and nature for the development of the Northern power system.

The project started on September 4, 2024, with a total investment of VND 559.2 billion. The scale of the project includes the Phu Binh 2 220kV Transformer Station (TBA), installing 3 250MVA transformers, of which phase 1 has completed the installation of 2 250MVA-220/110/22kV transformers. Along with that, the project will build a new 9.16 km of 220kV double-circuit line, connecting to the Thai Nguyen - Bac Giang 220kV line.

220kV Phu Binh 2 substation was accepted and energized at 20:30 on April 14, 2025.

At exactly 8:30 p.m. on April 14, 2025, the project was successfully energized in Phu Binh district, Thai Nguyen province, improving the power transmission capacity for the southern Thai Nguyen region and key industrial zones.

Notably, the project was completed after just over 6 months of construction, overcoming many challenges in terms of site, construction conditions and weather. This progress demonstrates the high determination and is also a clear demonstration of EVNNPC's capacity in operating, organizing construction and supervising the quality of key power projects, especially 220kV power projects - a type of project that requires high technical requirements and is of strategic significance to the national power system.

The project's energization and commissioning on schedule, ensuring quality, has promptly met the increasing demand for electricity in the area, especially in Phu Binh Industrial Park, industrial clusters and neighboring medium-voltage loads. The project also contributes to strengthening grid connectivity, improving power quality for the 110kV grid, ensuring safety and stability for the national power system. This success continues to affirm the prestige and position of EVNNPC in effectively implementing large-scale power projects, serving the socio-economic development goals of the locality and the country.
