With the theme “Young workers - Spreading positive energy”, over the past 2 weekends, many cultural - artistic, physical education - sports activities, free medical examinations, discounted sales, etc. were organized by the Vietnam Youth Union in coordination with relevant parties, helping to bring joy to thousands of workers working at Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc Industrial Park (Dien Ban).
Meaningful activities
The Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc Industrial Park (Dien Nam Trung Ward, Dien Ban) Labor Cultural House on May 20-21 truly became a festival. On the main stage, hundreds of "actors" from production and business enterprises in the industrial park enthusiastically competed in singing and dancing. Melodies of love, songs of the homeland, enthusiastic labor, and colorful dances were performed with all their might by the workers amid the enthusiastic applause of the audience below.
On both sides of the stage entrance, OCOP stalls, agricultural products, and discounted consumer goods were displayed attractively, inviting workers to stop by and buy. Not far away, at the free general health examination area, many workers waited their turn to be examined and receive medicine.
Ms. Pham Thi Hieu (from Que Xuan commune, Que Son) - an employee of Rieker Vietnam Shoe Company said that not only did she have her blood pressure measured and blood tested, she also received advice from the doctor, instructions on how to prevent some common and occupational diseases, and then was given medicine to take home. "The doctor examined me enthusiastically and gave me many types of tonics such as vitamin C, calcium, eye tonics, blood circulation and brain tonics, so I was very happy" - Ms. Hieu said.
Organizing free medical examinations and medicine distribution for workers was considered the highlight of the 2023 Workers' Youth Festival that ended yesterday, May 21. It is estimated that nearly 2,500 workers received free medical examinations and medicine during this period.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai (from Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh) - employee of Rieker Vietnam Shoe Company, due to the difficult life of employees, not everyone has the conditions and time to go to the hospital for regular check-ups. Therefore, organizing a collective check-up for industrial park employees during the festival is a meaningful and practical activity, helping employees know their health and encouraging them to work with peace of mind.
During the 2 days of the event, in addition to cultural and sports activities, young people and workers were also trained in safe driving and free oil changes; propaganda to raise awareness of reproductive health, gender, marriage and family for young female workers; propaganda on digital transformation, instructions on installation and use of VNeID, VssID... The festival has truly become a major event of the year for many workers working at Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc Industrial Park.
Spread positive energy
Quang Nam is a key economic area in the Central region with a large labor force. Therefore, choosing Quang Nam as the locality to organize the Workers' Day has a very practical meaning, not only reflected in the material and spiritual values or creating a useful playground, but above all, it has helped spread positive energy among young workers, especially those working in Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc Industrial Park.
Mr. Nguyen Kim Quy - Permanent Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union shared that the goal of the festival is to care for and improve material and spiritual life, create a healthy and useful playground, and improve health for young people in export processing zones and industrial parks... after nearly 3 years of being affected by COVID-19, promptly encouraging young workers to enthusiastically work in production.
“The youth force in general and the workers in particular always play a very important role in socio-economic development, especially in production activities, contributing to creating material wealth for the country. Through the event, we hope to accompany and take care of the health, culture, spirit and physical strength of young workers, aiming to spread positive energy to society, especially young people” - Mr. Quy said.
In 2023, the festival will take place in 6 provinces and cities (including Quang Nam, Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City, Long An and Can Tho), from May to November and Quang Nam was chosen to host first.
According to Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Tri Thanh, in addition to its significance to the workforce, the event also spread to labor movements in the province, helping to motivate and encourage workers to feel secure in production, and together with businesses to promote a dynamic and creative spirit to create material wealth, contributing positively to the state budget.
“After the COVID-19 pandemic and in the context of the current difficult economic situation, many businesses have laid off workers, so organizing a festival like this is very timely and useful, thereby helping workers feel secure in their work and overcome difficulties. The locality will coordinate with relevant units to further promote the creative working spirit of workers, and welcome the care of all levels of unions, youth unions, and charitable businesses that have promptly encouraged the spirit of workers in the current context,” said Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Tri Thanh.
