One day at the end of May, we visited the family of Mr. Tran Bay (residing in Phu Da village, Que Chau commune), one of the households facing especially difficult circumstances.
In the small, narrow house, the atmosphere was quiet. Mr. Bay used to be the main breadwinner of the family, but for the past two years he had to fight many diseases that had exhausted his health and completely lost his ability to work.
The burden of making a living falls on the shoulders of Ms. Nguyen Thi Nghia (Mr. Bay's wife), who currently works part-time at the People's Committee of Que Thuan commune. With a meager salary, she alone takes care of her sick husband and raises three young children of school age. In the midst of difficulties, Ms. Nghia's family received support of 20 million VND from Thien Tam Fund through the Que Son District Charity Association.
“The timely support from Thien Tam Fund is an extremely valuable source of encouragement, helping my family have more confidence to continue to overcome adversity,” Ms. Nghia said emotionally.
Not only Ms. Nghia's family, in recent times, many other difficult circumstances such as poor households, orphans, studious students, and terminally ill people in the district have also received timely and appropriate help from Thien Tam Fund and charitable organizations.
Tran Thi Diem (7th grade student, Que Thuan Secondary School) is an orphan, her mother does not have a stable job. Despite her difficult circumstances, Diem has always achieved high academic results, with the dream of becoming a doctor to help people in similar situations.
“Thanks to the scholarship, I have been able to cover some of my tuition fees. I will try to study well to help my mother and other unfortunate people in the future,” Diem said.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Dao - Chairman of Que Son District Charity Association, in 2024, the association mobilized more than 9 billion VND for humanitarian activities.
Of which, through the Provincial Charity Association, more than 8.6 billion VND was mobilized; Thien Tam Fund supported nearly 210 million VND; organizations and individuals inside and outside the district supported more than 211 million VND.
From this source of funding, the District Charity Association has organized many practical activities such as: supporting the construction of solidarity houses, granting scholarships to poor but studious students, giving gifts to the disadvantaged, supporting medical examination and treatment for lonely elderly people, people with disabilities, poor patients, etc.
“In the coming time, the association will continue to promote propaganda to raise public awareness of humanitarian work, arousing the spirit of mutual love among the people.
In addition, the association also proactively connects with domestic and foreign organizations and individuals to mobilize more legal aid sources, thereby having more resources to support the poor and disadvantaged, contributing to ensuring social security in the area," said Mr. Dao.
