The Ministry of Construction said that following the Prime Minister’s direction, on the morning of April 19, important projects in the construction sector were simultaneously held groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies in all three regions of the North, Central and South. Currently, 85 works and projects of ministries, sectors and localities have registered to start construction and inauguration on April 19.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, on the morning of April 19, the Ministry of Construction chaired and coordinated with the provinces and cities of Ha Tinh , Quang Binh, Khanh Hoa, and Tien Giang to organize the Technical Opening Ceremony of 4 component projects of the North-South Expressway Construction Project in the East (phase 2021 - 2025) including the sections: Bai Vot - Ham Nghi; Ham Nghi - Vung Ang; Bung - Van Ninh; Van Phong - Nha Trang and the closing ceremony of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, in the form of online connection with the bridge points in the provinces and cities where the project passes through.
The main bridge is held at Passenger Terminal T3, Tan Son Nhat Airport (HCMC).
The bridge points connecting to the main bridge point in Ho Chi Minh City include: The bridge point at the QL8A intersection (Km479+300) in Thanh Binh commune, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province; the bridge point at the Viet Trung intersection (Km643+400) in Nong Truong Viet Trung town, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province; the bridge point at the QL26 intersection (Km332+100) in Ninh Xuan commune, Ninh Hoa town, Khanh Hoa province; the bridge point at Rach Mieu 2 bridge in Binh Duc commune, Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province.
According to the Ministry of Construction, the opening of the above 4 North-South Expressway component projects on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day will contribute to overcoming traffic congestion and reducing traffic accidents, reducing traffic pressure on National Highway 1A, shortening travel time, improving operational safety, creating favorable conditions for traffic from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Yen province; from Hanoi capital to Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces; promoting investment efficiency, meeting the needs of travel, transportation, tourism, cultural and social exchange, contributing to promoting economic development, stimulating tourism potential in the provinces: Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and the provinces of North Central and South Central Coast.
According to the Ministry of Construction, vehicles will officially be allowed to circulate on these four expressway sections from April 28, 2025.
For the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi Expressway, vehicles are allowed to circulate from the beginning of the Project at Km479+117 to the end of the Project at Km514+441 in the North - South direction and vice versa, including 3 intersections (intersection of National Highway 8A, Thanh Binh Thinh Commune, Duc Tho District connecting Cau Treo Border Gate, Hong Linh Town; intersection of Provincial Road 548, Trung Loc Commune, Can Loc District connecting Nghen Town, Dong Lo Historical Site, National Highway 1A and intersection with Provincial Road 550, Luu Vinh Son Commune, Thach Ha District connecting with Ha Tinh City, National Highway 1A). The maximum speed is 80 km/hour.
For Ham Nghi - Vung Ang Expressway, vehicles are allowed to circulate from the beginning of the Project at Km514+300 to the end of Km568+496 in the North - South direction and vice versa, including 03 intersections (Cam Quan QL1 intersection, Cam Quan commune, Cam Xuyen district via the connecting route to QL1A to Cam Xuyen district center, Thien Cam tourist area; Ky Trung intersection, Ky Trung commune, Ky Anh district to QL1A connecting Ky Anh district center and QL12C intersection, Ky Tan commune, Ky Anh district connecting Vung Ang Economic Zone and Ky Anh town). Vehicles are allowed to run at a maximum speed of 80 km/hour.

There are about 85 projects being started and inaugurated simultaneously on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
For the Bung - Van Ninh expressway, vehicles are allowed to operate on the route from Cu Nam intersection (about Km626+690.35) to QL9B intersection (about Km673+750). The project will put into operation about 47/48.84 km of the main route and 4/4 intersections, including: Cu Nam intersection (about Km626+690.35), Viet Trung (about Km643+480), Nhat Le 2 (about Km653+850), QL9B (about Km673+750).
For the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway, vehicles are allowed to participate in traffic on the route at 6:00 a.m. on April 20. Specifically, vehicles are allowed to operate the route from Van Gia intersection (about Km299+812) to QL27C intersection (about Km368+350), connecting with the Nha Trang - Cam Lam section currently in operation.
Also on the morning of April 19, the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUD) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Building B1, B2 - a social housing construction investment project in Dong Van Ward, Duy Tien Town, Ha Nam Province. Attending the groundbreaking ceremony were representatives of the Government Party Committee, leaders of the Ministry of Construction, and Ha Nam Province.
Rach Mieu 2 Bridge closed
The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Project has a total length of 17.6 km, starting at Dong Tam intersection (intersection between National Highway 1 and Provincial Road 870) in Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province; ending at about Km16+660 National Highway 60, about 0.71 km from the northern abutment of Ham Luong bridge in Ben Tre city, Ben Tre province. The total investment is 6,810 billion VND.
The project started in March 2022 and has so far completed about 84% of the work, of which the Rach Mieu 2 main bridge package has been completed about 88%. The Ministry of Construction will organize the closing of the Rach Mieu main bridge at the location of the two towers P19 and P20 on April 19.
The event of the main Rach Mieu Bridge closing 4 months ahead of schedule is an important step, helping the investor and construction units strive to complete the project before October 30, 2025.
The investment in the construction of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces meets the increasing transportation demand on National Highway 60, promotes socio-economic development, ensures national defense and security of Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces in particular, and the Mekong Delta region.
