Recently, the Traffic Police Department (PC08) of Ho Chi Minh City Police has implemented a form of direct payment of traffic violation fines using QR codes, which is receiving public attention.
Most Tuoi Tre Online readers commented that this is a solution that helps save time, limits negativity and is suitable for the current digital transformation trend.
Convenient for fine payers
This form helps people pay fines quickly on the spot by simply scanning the code, without having to travel far or carry cash. All fine payment information is pre-integrated to avoid confusion.
Fast processing, reducing waiting time for violators and paperwork for authorities.
Fines are transferred to the State account, with clear receipts, public procedures, limiting negativity, creating trust for the people.
Reader Bui Van Minh Triet shared: "What a great step forward. This form of fine payment is quick, convenient, and very transparent."
Reader Mr. Hien also hopes that this form will become popular nationwide. "I remember in the past, in Ho Chi Minh City, I used to go to Vung Tau (old) by motorbike, and when I violated the law, I had to wait nearly half a year before I could arrange my work to go to Vung Tau to pay the fine and get my motorbike registration back."
Many other opinions agree that the above new method helps reduce procedural hassles and limit cash contact. Reader Long emphasized: "Paying fines by QR Code will reduce negative situations."
Proposal to expand fine payment via QR Code
Along with support, some opinions suggested solutions, contributing to gradually perfecting the above method.
Reader Dung thinks there should be a separate application for fines, in which officers only need to scan their ID or driver's license so that the system can automatically generate an electronic ticket with a QR code that has pre-integrated transfer information. People just need to scan and pay, without having to enter additional data.
Many opinions also suggested integrating direct fine payment into the VNeID application, and replacing paper records with "electronic records" to synchronize the digitization process.
Although highly appreciated, there are still concerns with this solution.
Some people argue that paying fines too easily can reduce the deterrent effect of sanctions, and that additional forms of punishment, such as community service, should be considered.
Some people also noted that traditional fine payment methods should be maintained for special cases, especially for the elderly who are not yet familiar with using technology.
In addition, the issue of QR code security is also raised, along with concerns about the risk of counterfeiting and possible loss of money in this case.
Meanwhile, some readers suggested that the application of fine payment by QR code transfer should be expanded to violations with higher fines.
In general, most opinions affirm that paying fines via QR Code is a practical solution, in line with the trend of building digital government, both convenient for people and helping the State manage more effectively and transparently.
As shared by reader Phat: "Paying fines by QR Code not only facilitates violators but also helps make the penalty process transparent. This form needs to be expanded and deployed more synchronously."
Applicable to fines up to 500,000 (individual) and 1 million VND (organization)
The form of direct fine payment by transfer via QR code is being applied to violations with fines of up to VND 500,000 (for individuals) and VND 1,000,000 (for organizations), with no additional penalties.
Traffic police will issue a decision to impose an administrative penalty without making a record and giving a receipt to the violator.
