Dong Thap - 50 years, one perspective is a memoir by author Nguyen Dac Hien (former deputy secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee), a veteran revolutionary cadre. He expressed his emotions on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

On the morning of April 27, at Cao Lanh City Book Street, a meeting with historical witnesses - the author of the book Dong Thap - 50 years , one perspective - took place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

Dong Thap - 50 years, one perspective is a memoir by author Nguyen Dac Hien (former deputy secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee).

As a former officer of the Propaganda Department and a 1/4-class war invalid after returning from the battlefield against the US, he expressed his emotions on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the country's peaceful reunification .

"The past 50 years have seen so many changes. With my feelings and wishes, I try to go a little bit to see with my own eyes, hear with my own ears, and record a few lines among thousands, tens of thousands of great events of the locality, of millions of Dong Thap people, like a picture with a few simple strokes, just a few, not and cannot be all," said Mr. Hien.

The book consists of three chapters: The days after liberation - Changes in boundaries and names; Attack on Dong Thap Muoi; New faces and new stories.

Sharing with readers and students attending the exchange, he said it was difficult to recount all the miraculous changes in the land of lotus in the past 50 years, but personally he was most impressed with three things:

"That was a great success in reclaiming land in the attack on Dong Thap Muoi. From a wild, swampy grassland full of mosquitoes and leeches, alum water, foul water, scorching sun during the day and dark and gloomy at night, with poor people living sparsely at sea... it has now become a spacious new countryside.

In terms of internal appearance, there is a change in thinking, leadership thinking and farmer thinking, the way of thinking and working according to the market.

There is a young generation that is both talented and professional, contributing their talents and intelligence to their homeland, participating in production and business startups from local resources, taking the lead in the fields of science,education , digital transformation...".

Mr. Nguyen Dac Hien was born in 1938, in Tan Thuan Tay village, Cao Lanh district, Sa Dec province (now Cao Lanh city, Dong Thap province).

Before 1975, he joined the revolution, then was imprisoned by the enemy. After being released from prison, he continued to study at Tran Phu School. In July 1974, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of Kien Phong Province. In October 1975, he became Head of the Education Department of Sa Dec Province.

In March 1998, he became Deputy Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee. In July 2004, he became Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial Historical Science Association.

He was awarded many noble titles by the State: Second-class Resistance Medal, First-class Victory Medal, Second-class Independence Medal, Third-class Labor Medal; 60-year Party membership badge, and many other medals and certificates of merit.
