Dong Xoai: Rabies epidemic announced in animals

Previously, the Dong Xoai City Agricultural Service Center coordinated with the People's Committees of Tan Binh and Tan Xuan wards to handle cases of dogs suspected of being infected with rabies discovered in Tan Binh quarter (Tan Binh ward) and Tan Tra quarter (Tan Xuan ward), then took samples for testing to determine whether the animals were infected with the disease in order to have timely treatment.

On April 24, the Veterinary Department of Region IV had test results that detected rabies virus in the animal's specimen. The City Agricultural Service Center coordinated with local authorities to implement measures to handle rabies and prevent the disease promptly and quickly.

Accordingly, the epidemic area is identified in Tan Binh and Tan Xuan wards, Dong Xoai city and the threatened area within a radius of 3km. Dong Xoai city People's Committee has issued a document directing specialized agencies and commune and ward People's Committees to urgently implement measures to prevent and control animal rabies in the city. In particular, strengthen close monitoring of the epidemic situation in dogs and cats at the grassroots level and implement quick and timely treatment measures; organize measures to manage pets in households according to regulations; promote extensive propaganda to the community about the harmful effects and dangers of rabies so that people can proactively prevent and control it; advise people to manage their dogs and commit to rabies vaccination.
