The Lai Chau Provincial Elderly Association has just coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize the 10th Elderly Singing Festival in 2024. Attending were Mr. Tran Manh Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Ms. Phung Thi Hai Yen, Vice President of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association; Mr. Vuong Huu Tho, Director of the Provincial Culture and Arts Center; representatives of the leaders of the Elderly Association at all levels, along with actors, musicians and a large number of officials and members of the Elderly Association to cheer and encourage.

The 10th Provincial Elderly Singing Festival in 2024 aims to create a useful playground for the elderly, an opportunity for the elderly to exchange and share their passion for arts, express the spirit and patriotic emulation movement "Old age - Bright example"; is a bond of affection, solidarity, and rich tradition between all levels of the Association in the province. Thereby, contributing to improving the quality of mass cultural and artistic movements in general and the elderly in particular; strengthening cultural, artistic, and sports clubs, contributing to preserving the traditional cultural identity of Lai Chau homeland. At the same time, encouraging the elderly to live happily, healthily, and usefully for themselves, their families, and society.
The 10th Provincial Elderly Singing Festival in 2024 attracted 160 actors, musicians, and artists from 7 teams from the Elderly Associations of districts and cities such as Lai Chau, Tam Duong, Nam Nhun, Sin Ho, Than Uyen, Muong Te, Tan Uyen, Phong Tho... More than 40 singing, dancing, and music performances with the theme of praising the glorious Party, great Uncle Ho and the patriotic tradition of the people and the elderly in the process of building and defending the Fatherland. Before that, the actors and musicians had gone through the grassroots festival to select the best performances to participate in the provincial festival.

Ms. Do Thi Hien, Doan Ket Ward Youth Union, Lai Chau City, regularly participates in local mass cultural activities. Ms. Yen shared: “I have been passionate about arts since I was young, so even though I am old, I still maintain this passion. Whenever there is a competition, performance or cultural exchange at the Residential Group, I enthusiastically participate. The Elderly Singing Festival is a very meaningful playground for the elderly class, here we have the opportunity to exchange, express our passion for arts and feel comfortable and happy in our hearts.”
Mr. Doi Xuan Cuong, Tan Uyen district delegation, excitedly said: “The art movement has contributed to improving spiritual life, encouraging the elderly to be happier, healthier, preserving and promoting the local cultural identity. Participating in the Festival is not only fun but also an environment for us to share life experiences, encourage each other to live more optimistically, love life and be more exemplary.”

Mr. Le Xuan Phung, Chairman of the Provincial Elderly Association, said: “The Lai Chau Provincial Elderly Singing Festival is held annually. After each Festival, we have a meeting to review experiences and set higher requirements in all stages such as theme selection, staging, costumes, props, and performance. This event especially celebrates the country's major holidays, towards the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Elderly Association (May 10, 1995 - May 10, 2025); 20th anniversary of the founding of the Lai Chau Provincial Elderly Association (January 20, 2005 - January 20, 2025). “To achieve the above success, over the past time, the Association at all levels has actively and enthusiastically practiced and brought quality performances to the Festival. Through that, we can see more clearly the passion, enthusiasm, and high sense of responsibility of the elderly in the province,” Mr. Phung affirmed.
At the end of the Festival, the Organizing Committee awarded 53 prizes to the participating delegations. Of which, the Special Prize for the whole delegation was awarded to the Elderly Association of Tan Uyen town (Tan Uyen district); the First Prize for the whole delegation belonged to the Elderly Association of Muong Te district; 3 Second Prizes and 2 Third Prizes for the whole delegation were awarded.
