The nearly 10-hectare land plot in Gia Lam commune (formerly belonging to Co Bi commune, Gia Lam district) was approved to build the project of Inter-provincial Bus Station combining the starting and ending points of buses in the East of Hanoi city since 2014, but until now it has not been implemented, causing a great waste of land resources, people are very upset. Looking at the large abandoned land plot, overgrown with weeds, the corrugated iron sheets surrounding the land are falling apart, everyone feels sorry.

According to the investigation of the Hanoi Moi Newspaper reporter, the project of the inter-provincial bus station combining the starting and ending points of buses in the East of Hanoi city in Co Bi commune (old) was approved by the Hanoi People's Committee for Hanoi Transport Corporation (Transerco) to be the investor since 2014. Up to now, the project has only been implemented by the investor with some procedures on electricity supply, water supply - drainage, fire prevention and fighting... The remaining investment work has not yet been implemented.

In the project planning area, it is shown that for many years, this land has always been in a state of wilderness, overgrown with grass, and many places have become spontaneous poultry grazing areas.

Many people in Gia Lam commune, when asked, expressed regret that the land was planned to be a bus station a long time ago but the project was not implemented, causing serious land waste.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung, a resident of Gia Lam commune who lives near the project, complained: "The land is large and in a beautiful location, but it has been left fallow for more than ten years. It's such a waste. We don't know if the project will continue or stop. We hope to receive information from the authorities soon."

Due to the slow progress of the project, leaving the land fallow and wasting, recently, voters of Gia Lam commune have continuously requested to announce the progress of the project. Accordingly, at the 20th session of the Hanoi People's Council (term XVI), held at the end of 2024, the Hanoi People's Committee informed that the project is in the stage of collecting opinions from the community on the boundaries, location, and implementation site; the project has not yet cleared the land.

To clarify the reason why the project of the Inter-provincial Bus Station combining the starting and ending points of buses in the East of Hanoi city is slow to be implemented, reporters of the Hanoi Moi Newspaper have come directly to the leaders of Gia Lam Commune People's Committee many times and contacted by phone, but up to now, they have not received a response.

While in Hanoi, land funds for implementing socio -economic development projects are increasingly limited, leaving 10 hectares of land abandoned for more than 11 years is a huge waste.

People hope that the relevant departments and branches of the city, the People's Committee of Gia Lam commune and the investor will publicly announce the progress of the project implementation, clarify the responsibilities of each relevant unit; request the investor to report a specific roadmap and difficulties in the project implementation process. If the investor intentionally does not implement the project, or does not have the capacity to invest, the project should be revoked and assigned to another unit to implement so that the inter-provincial bus station project can be built and put into use soon.

Many people in Gia Lam commune believe that a project that has not been implemented for 11 years not only wastes land but also reduces investment efficiency. It is necessary for competent authorities and related units to take measures to end this long delay.
