Regarding resettlement for the VSIP project, the planned resettlement area covers an area of over 52 hectares, of which phase 1 will invest in infrastructure on over 22 hectares to arrange 547 resettlement plots for those affected by the project, worker housing, commercial service land, public works, social welfare, transportation, green parks, technical infrastructure, etc., with an estimated population of about 4,000 people.
This resettlement area was started in August 2024, with a total investment of nearly 514 billion VND; phase 1 has handed over 100% of the land. It is expected that before Lunar New Year 2025, 300 plots will be completed in advance to organize a lottery for people to receive the plots.
At a recent project inspection, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu - Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee - requested the contractor constructing route No. 1 (connecting from National Highway 80 to the industrial park) to fulfill its commitment and complete it before the Lunar New Year 2025 for handover and use.
For Road No. 2 (connecting from the approach road to Vam Cong bridge to the industrial park), Mr. Hieu requested the contractor and construction unit to focus on speeding up the progress and quality to meet the handover schedule for the investor to implement the next items.
With the 110kV power line running across the industrial park needing to be relocated, Vinh Thanh district quickly worked with the electricity industry to speed up the relocation process, clear the ground for leveling and building roads leading to the resettlement area.

Mr. Hieu requested Vinh Thanh district to quickly deploy the resettlement area, striving to have 300 plots of land to hand over to households whose resettlement policies have been approved by the end of this year. The resettlement area will be the basis for forming new urban areas, promoting local socio-economic development.
According to the Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, the VSIP project is an opportunity for the city to both industrialize and urbanize. If the resettlement in the first phase is well implemented, the implementation of phase 2 will be very favorable. The construction of the resettlement area must ensure quality, be a modern urban area, equivalent to commercial residential areas so that people can enjoy the amenities, do business, develop services, and see this as an opportunity to convert jobs and improve people's lives from agriculture to urban areas.
VSIP Can Tho Industrial Park project (Vinh Trinh commune, Vinh Thanh district, Can Tho city) has a total investment of 3,717 billion VND, starting construction in September 2023. This is the 13th Vietnam - Singapore industrial park project in the country and the first in the Mekong Delta, planned with a total area of 900 hectares (phase 1 is over 293 hectares).
Strategically located at the intersection of important traffic routes in the region, VSIP Can Tho is oriented to be built according to the model of a smart and sustainable industrial park. The project aims to become a major food processing and distribution center in the Southern region, establishing a “center-to-port” logistics network and supporting infrastructure to best support investors’ supply chain needs.
