With positive market developments, limited supply, high demand and the pepper industry being less affected by the US's reciprocal tax... these will be factors supporting pepper prices to increase in the coming time.

According to experts, the US President's announcement to postpone the imposition of reciprocal tariffs for 90 days has created a more positive impact on business orders that may have been suspended due to concerns about increased tariffs earlier.

In the long term, pepper prices will continue to rise and may reach VND200,000/kg. Because pepper demand in the US depends almost entirely on imports. At the same time, global supply is increasingly limited due to declining output in some major producing countries such as Indonesia and India due to climate change, disease and rising input costs.

Farmers in Gia Lai province harvest pepper.

Globally, the pepper market is facing challenges due to declining production in major producing countries such as Indonesia and India. The main reasons are climate change, disease and high input costs. Although pepper prices have been adjusted downward, demand is still increasing, putting pressure on supply. Vietnam, as the leading pepper supplier, is in a great position to meet this demand.

The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) believes that from now until the end of the year, supply and demand will remain the most important factor. Whether the US imposes tariffs or not, the global market is still in short supply, which will support pepper prices to increase again in the medium and long term.

The US's 90-day suspension of reciprocal tariffs is seen as a positive signal for the pepper industry, helping pepper prices potentially increase again in the coming time. However, pepper growers need to maintain stable production and should not sell off to ensure long-term benefits.
