Associate Professor, Dr. Vo Van Minh believes that Quang Ngai tourism should not be "easy", becoming "gathering places" for entertainment or places of worship.
Recently, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province organized a workshop on "Developing agricultural tourism and community tourism in Quang Ngai province - opportunities and prospects". The workshop received 21 presentations from agencies, units, scientists, experts and many enthusiastic opinions and discussions.
Not “easy”
At the workshop, Associate Professor, Doctor Vo Van Minh - Principal of the University of Education (University of Danang ) gave some suggestions for tourism development in Quang Ngai province.

Accordingly, Quang Ngai has Sa Huynh - one of the three ancient cultures in Vietnam. This place still has traces of ancient space as well as wide connections with cultures around the world.
If we revive the Sa Huynh brand to connect all economic sectors of Quang Ngai such as industry - agriculture - fishery - forestry - salt industry to develop tourism in the direction of ecological culture, the cradle of Sa Huynh culture will bring Quang Ngai to a new peak and approach a new level of civilization.
Notably, Associate Professor, Dr. Vo Van Minh said that Quang Ngai tourism should not be "easy" to become "gathering places" for entertainment or places for blind spiritual worship like some other localities in the country today. Instead, let's create destinations, places of connection - exchange between cultures for a brighter future for Quang Ngai.
Quang Ngai’s natural and human tourism resources are not lacking, and can even be said to be not inferior to many places with developed tourism at present. However, on the Central Heritage Road, Quang Ngai is not yet on the regional map, despite its heritage.
Developing community tourism network
Meanwhile, Dr. Chu Manh Trinh - conservation expert of Cu Lao Cham Marine Protected Area (Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province) said that agricultural, rural and community tourism in Quang Ngai have been and are being formed vividly in localities, with the participation of people, authorities, and stakeholders, along with active support and sharing from external forces.

The community and community tourism network has been actively and effectively promoting the role of connecting, sharing, converging many quintessence, experiences, and creativity from people and communities for building and developing local capacity, community livelihoods and socio-economy. From Cu Lao Cham, Cam Thanh, Cam Kim to Hoa Bac and spreading to Binh Son, Mo Duc, Nghia Hanh, Sa Huynh, and vice versa.
“If in Sa Huynh, the Traditional Sea Salt Cooperative and the Tourism Cooperative know how to combine the above resources into strengths to gather forces for development, Binh Thanh has only promoted resources individually, mainly relying on people, experience and traditional skills, or fruit gardens. Or Binh Son and Tinh Khe have only relied on natural resources” - Dr. Trinh pointed out.
Building a unique type of tourism
Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai Nguyen Tien Dung acknowledged that in recent times, attracting investment in the tourism sector of the province has been limited, and has not yet implemented dynamic tourism projects that contribute to promoting tourism development and attracting other projects.
In addition, poor transport infrastructure and facilities at some destinations have reduced the tourist experience of customers. Tourism products are not diverse, lacking new destinations and experiences, and do not attract a variety of tourists.
"Tourism products are poor, there are no unique products, the strong products are still in potential form, not fully exploiting the inherent resources. This is the subjective and main reason leading to the slow development of tourism in the province" - Mr. Dung said.
Concluding the workshop, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Hoang Tuan requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with local departments, branches and relevant units to fully absorb the comments, opinions and proposals to proactively implement general and strategic solutions.

Focus on developing and exploiting customer market segments according to specialized products in which Quang Ngai has strengths such as: sea and island tourism, agricultural tourism, community tourism, cultural and historical tourism.
“Localities need to implement tourism development plans that are appropriate to reality. In particular, research and prioritize resources, increase support for agricultural tourism and community tourism. Strive for each locality to form tourist destinations that meet OCOP standards,” said Mr. Tuan.
