As one of the province's largest fruit growing areas, with 12,500 hectares, Yen Chau is famous for its typical products, such as: Mango, banana, plum, pear... In addition to the value of agricultural products, many gardeners combine with agricultural, ecological, and community tourism models, promoting their brands; gradually forming agricultural tours to visit fruit gardens, combined with experiencing traditional community culture.

Tourists capture beautiful moments with pear flowers in Phieng Khoai commune, Yen Chau district.

Kha Village, Sap Vat Commune is located right next to Highway 6, with a peaceful atmosphere, winding Vat Stream, and the shade of ancient mango and tamarind trees. In particular, the village still retains the traditional stilt houses and unique cultural features of the Thai ethnic group. In recent years, Kha Village has been chosen as the place to annually organize activities of the Yen Chau Mango Festival, attracting tourists to visit, experience, and learn about the culture.

Mr. Pham Duc Long, Vice Chairman of Yen Chau District People's Committee, said: The District People's Committee issued the Project "Developing rural tourism model in Kha village, Sap Vat commune, period 2022-2025", allocating a budget of over 13 billion VND, calling for more resources to build a community tourism village. The district directed Sap Vat commune to propagate and mobilize people to preserve and conserve traditional stilt house architecture, not to cut down ancient mango trees; mobilize households to arrange land outside residential areas to relocate livestock barns; regularly clean roads in the village, plant flowers along the roads, ensuring a green, clean and beautiful environment. At the same time, organize to take households to visit typical tourism models in some localities; train in tourism knowledge.

Tourists experience plum picking in Phieng Khoai commune.

Kha village has invested in building a hard bridge across the stream, a cultural house, a parking lot, and concrete on the main road. Households in the village have joined together to establish a cooperative; families have renovated their houses into homestays, opened ethnic cuisine restaurants, weaved fabrics, embroidered Piêu scarves, and hand-woven bamboo and rattan; and established two art troupes to regularly perform folk songs and dances for tourists.

Ms. Quàng Thị Nhất, Director of the Kha Village Rural Tourism Cooperative, shared: The members of the cooperative have invested in taking care of the ancient round mango gardens, attracting tourists to experience picking and enjoying fresh mangoes right in the garden and buying them as gifts. Thanks to that, the mangoes do not have to worry about output, bringing a stable source of income.

In Phieng Khoi, the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet, Con Huot village, Phieng Khoi commune, has an area of ​​over 3 hectares of plums and pears. In the past 4 years, when plum and pear flowers bloom or the fruit ripens, many tourists have come to experience. Ms. Nguyet excitedly said: The family grows plums and pears in a safe and organic way. Up to now, the products have been recognized as 3 and 4 star OCOP. In addition to selling fruit, the family also combines tourism, product promotion, opening the garden for tourists to visit, take photos, admire flowers and harvest fruit, helping the family earn nearly 1.5 billion VND/year.

Experiential activities and fruit tasting at Yen Chau Mango Festival 2025.

In recent years, Yen Chau has made its mark with events and festivals associated with flower and fruit seasons in the localities, such as: Mango Festival, Plum Picking, "Spring Garden Border" Cross-country Race... This is both an opportunity to promote agricultural products and an opportunity to introduce the potential and strengths of district tourism. Many agricultural and rural tourism models have been effective, attracting tourists. Fruit gardens are connected to become destinations on the journey of experience.

Ms. Le Thi Le, a tourist from Hung Yen, said: My family and I came to Yen Chau for the first time when the district organized the Mango and Plum Picking Festival; we experienced picking ripe red plums and enjoying the delicious and unique specialty of round mangoes in the garden. I will definitely introduce it to my friends and come back here.

The model of growing fruit trees combined with developing agricultural and ecological tourism not only brings economic benefits, but also preserves and promotes local cultural and natural values. With great potential, in the coming time, Yen Chau will become an attractive agricultural and ecological tourism destination, attracting more and more tourists, contributing to maintaining the fruit brand and improving the lives of ethnic minorities.
