Promoting the value of culinary culture and traditional crafts is no longer a single phenomenon but has become the direction of many tourist areas and spots in Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa. One of the destinations that exploits traditional culture well in tourism development is Truong Son Craft Village (Nha Trang City). Truong Son Craft Village not only introduces traditional crafts such as: net weaving, pottery making, mat weaving, conical hat weaving, silk embroidery, handicraft making... but also performs traditional musical instruments of Vietnamese people and ethnic minorities such as: Zither, Monochord, Stone Guitar, T'rung... Here, some traditional cakes are also served such as: Banh Xeo, Banh Phu The... Therefore, Truong Son Craft Village has become a very attractive destination for international visitors, especially cruise tourists. Every time they come here, after listening to the traditional musical instrument performances, visitors are very excited to visit the Ao Dai display booth and experience the bamboo dance. “The craft village has a spacious space, introducing many traditional cultural features of the Vietnamese people. I really enjoyed learning about traditional crafts, enjoying the traditional musical instruments of Vietnam... I was really surprised that Nha Trang has such an interesting destination” - Mr. Peter Melchior (German tourist) expressed.
Also exploiting traditional cultural elements, Memento Tourist Area (Dien Hoa Commune, Dien Khanh District) focuses on exploiting the countryside space combined with cuisine. Visitors to Memento will visit the ancient house space of the tourist area, visit the peaceful countryside with lush green fruit gardens, admire the ripe rice fields; experience making banh xeo to learn about culinary culture. As always, Memento staff begin by introducing visitors to the rice cultivation profession in Dien Khanh land to produce rice grains for making banh xeo; then the process of making banh xeo, from making flour, making fillings to casting banh xeo; All are carefully prepared to produce crispy and fragrant cakes that satisfy diners... "Through these simple stories, we want today's youth to understand the traditional culture that has been preserved through many generations of ancestors. At the same time, we want to introduce to international tourists the diversity and sophistication of the traditional culture of the Vietnamese people", Ms. Pham Y Tho - owner of Memento Tourist Area shared.
Contribute to diversifying tourism products
The exploitation of traditional cultural values is carried out by 5-star resorts through programs such as: Market and cooking tours, folk cultural games, culinary markets, and introduction of traditional craft villages. Typically, Champa Island Tourist Area has a traditional craft village introducing the professions of making conical hats, making pottery, weaving mats, and embroidering paintings; Alma Resort cooperates with travel agencies to organize the tour "Discovering Vietnamese culture and cuisine". During the recent Giap Thin Lunar New Year, Potique Hotel (Nha Trang) organized the Old Tet Market with many cultural activities such as: Food stalls, calligraphers writing calligraphy, performing traditional musical instruments, etc., which were very popular with tourists.

Promoting the value of cultural heritage to serve tourists is not a new issue. However, in the past, tourism businesses mainly focused on introducing tangible cultural heritages such as Ponagar Tower, Long Son Pagoda, etc.; currently, many businesses have paid attention to exploiting the countryside space combined with culinary culture. This has helped Khanh Hoa tourism have more diverse products, meeting the tastes of tourists. “After the Covid-19 pandemic, tourists' tastes have changed a lot. In addition to sightseeing and relaxation, tourists increasingly prefer to experience local culture. Tourism businesses have been quite quick to grasp tourists ' tastes to build attractions, experience traditional crafts, and traditional cuisine to serve tourists. Destinations such as Truong Son Craft Village, Nha Trang in the past, etc. have received very positive feedback from tourists. I believe that in the coming time, promoting the value of cultural heritage associated with tourism development will continue to be expanded and there will be more attractive models and products,” shared Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - Director of the Department of Tourism.
On December 22, 2023, the Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution No. 34 on promoting cultural heritage values associated with sustainable tourism development in the province until 2025, with a vision to 2030. Overall, the province aims to: Build, preserve and conserve tangible and intangible cultural heritage values in the province to honor and promote the good cultural values of ethnic communities in the province, for the benefit of the whole society; create new cultural values, enrich traditional Vietnamese culture and contribute to expanding international cultural exchanges, increasing tourism revenue, contributing to making tourism a spearhead economic sector of the province according to Resolution No. 09 of the Politburo on building and developing Khanh Hoa province until 2030, with a vision to 2045 .
