As researchers have pointed out, during his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh paid great attention to the issue of building and developing a strong and comprehensive capital. He affirmed that "The whole country looks to our capital. The world looks to our capital", so "our capital" must strive to "become a peaceful, beautiful capital, healthy in both material and spiritual aspects". He also always asked Hanoi to identify and ensure the fulfillment of its responsibility as a "locomotive" and "exemplary" role for the whole country. The teachings of President Ho Chi Minh were always identified by the Party Committee, the government and the people of the capital as the compass, the guiding light to build Hanoi to become increasingly rich, beautiful, civilized and modern as Uncle Ho always wished during his lifetime.

In 2024, with the spirit of "Discipline - Responsibility - Action - Creativity - Development", Hanoi continued to be exemplary and take the lead in implementing the country's socio-economic development goals. In particular, the 70th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the Capital has strongly spread the pride and honor of the thousand-year-old Capital Hanoi, the City for Peace, the Creative City.

With the participation of the entire political system and all classes of people, overcoming difficulties and challenges in 2024, the socio-economic indicators of the Capital continued to grow strongly, affirming Hanoi's role as an economic "locomotive", demonstrating the courage and determination of the Capital to overcome difficulties in all circumstances.

Hanoi has inaugurated and put into use many key works and projects such as: commercial operation of the elevated section of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station Urban Railway Project; Au Co Street; Hanoi Children's Hospital; Hanoi Children's Palace, the most modern in the country...; pioneering in digital transformation, leading in innovation...; developing a variety of cultural industrial products to create a unique identity. The work of preventing and combating negativity and waste continues to be promoted. National defense and security work is ensured. Foreign affairs activities are expanded, contributing to strengthening political trust, expanding development cooperation...

Last year, Hanoi was also determined to improve the urban environment thoroughly, substantially, and comprehensively. From collecting and treating waste, building a low-emission economy, using clean energy... to focusing on handling wastewater problems, "reviving" inner-city rivers.

2024 is also the year that Hanoi has made very important strides in building mechanisms and policies, creating a new development space for the Capital with the 2024 Capital Law being passed by the 15th National Assembly at the 7th Session and taking effect from January 1, 2025 - creating important institutions and legal corridors, opportunities for Hanoi to promote its potential and internal strength to enter a new era. The Capital Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 and the Adjustment of the Hanoi Capital Master Plan to 2045, with a vision to 2065 have been approved by the Government - shaping the future of development with "new vision - new global thinking, Capital thinking and Hanoi action", to build Hanoi into a global city, a creative urban area, a leading center of digital economy, green transformation and sustainable development.

Those results are the premise and solid foundation for Hanoi to confidently enter 2025 - the year of completion in implementing the 5-year plan (2020 - 2025); successfully organize the 18th Party Congress at all levels and the City Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030.
