The gardens in the concentrated U egg lychee growing area of Nguyen Uy commune this season are all very fruitful, with high uniformity. The U egg lychee garden of Mr. Nguyen Van Ba, Cat Thuong village, has an area of nearly 3,000m2 with 60 trees, the age of the trees is over 6 years old, and is ready for harvest. Basically, the trees produce large, even fruits, spread out on all 4 sides, each bunch has dozens of fruits, the weight is estimated at over 0.5 kg/bunch. It is expected that this year, Mr. Ba will harvest about 2 tons of fruit, an increase of more than 20% compared to last year. He will retail a part of the harvested lychee, and the rest will be sold to traders who come to buy at the garden. According to Mr. Ba, the lychee yield this year is high because the trees are older, entering a stable fruit-bearing stage. The flowering and fruit-setting time this season is favorable, without rain. This is the year the lychee garden has the largest harvest. With this amount of fruit, just calculating the selling price as in previous years, it still brings the family a good income, surpassing that of rice and other crops.

Like Mr. Nguyen Van Ba, the U egg hybrid lychee grower in Nguyen Uy is having a good crop. Currently, the commune has about 55 hectares, of which more than 21 hectares were planted early, with trees 10-20 years old, the remaining area is basically planted 5-6 years old. With this year's fruit yield, the long-term planted areas have reached 0.8-1 ton of fruit/sao, the average is about 0.6-0.7 tons of fruit/sao, an increase of 20-25% compared to last year. The total lychee growing area of the whole commune this year is estimated to reach nearly 1,000 tons, the highest ever. Traders have signed contracts to buy about 600 tons from the people.

High-yield U egg hybrid litchi helps increase the value of the production area and income for people. Litchi trees grown in Nguyen Uy often yield earlier than other growing areas, so they are quite expensive. In the early stages of the harvest, the price of U egg hybrid litchi in the locality is from 25 - 30 thousand VND/kg. The average price for the whole crop is about 20 thousand VND/kg. This year, 1 sao of U egg hybrid litchi in Nguyen Uy reaches 12 - 14 million VND, long-term planting areas reach 18 - 20 million VND. Meanwhile, the production cost for 1 sao of litchi when the tree has stabilized is about 1 million VND/year including: fertilizer and pesticides. Mr. Nguyen Van Dai, Director of Nguyen Uy Fruit Tree Cooperative, assessed: This year's U egg hybrid litchi crop in the locality is successful in terms of productivity, output and value. Lychee trees are gradually showing their effectiveness, affirming the right direction in the process of converting production in the fields.

However, during the production process, litchi growers in Nguyen Uy commune still face difficulties, which are: All products are sold in the free market, with nearly 70% of output sold through traders, so the selling price is not stable. When the litchi tree is in full harvest, the price drops, at times reaching only over 15 thousand VND/kg, equal to 60% compared to the beginning of the season. Along with that, the production area of U egg litchi of the commune is certified by VietGAP, the harvested products are still being sold together with mass products, so the value has not been promoted. Nguyen Uy's U egg litchi area has not yet used the "Kim Bang U egg litchi hybrid" brand that has been granted. This is the main reason why many households growing U egg litchi in the locality sell their entire garden to traders right from the flowering stage, achieving only 50% of the value and income compared to selling the product at harvest.

In order for the U egg hybrid lychee trees in Nguyen Uy to fully exploit their potential and strengths, and further enhance the value of their products, the local government and Nguyen Uy Fruit Cooperative need to pay attention and have specific solutions in the production process. Specifically, from the foundation of long-term lychee trees, improve the variety, gradually convert to the U egg pink hybrid lychee variety (currently the dark-skinned lychee variety), helping to improve both productivity, quality and product design. At the same time, strengthen trade promotion, find stable outlets for products through contracts, sell to supermarkets, clean agricultural product chains, etc. to promote the value of the products, bringing higher income to local lychee growers.
