My Phuoc - Tan Van Road expanded to 10 lanes: Scale 64km, investment capital 19,064 billion VND

The 64km BOT project connecting Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City will complete 19 intersections, 2 overpasses, 10 underpasses and 2 toll stations. The progress is expected to be completed in 2027.

Project Overview

The BOT investment project to complete My Phuoc - Tan Van road has a total length of 64km, starting at Tan Van intersection (Dong Hoa ward, Di An city) and ending at the intersection with Ho Chi Minh road (Tru Van Tho commune, Bau Bang district, Binh Duong province). The route passes through 11 wards/communes in Binh Duong and 1 commune in Ho Chi Minh City, with a total land use area of ​​259.6 hectares (invested part 205.3 hectares, newly built part 54.3 hectares).

On June 26, before the merger into Ho Chi Minh City, the People's Council of the former Binh Duong province issued a document on the investment policy for the project to complete the My Phuoc - Tan Van road under the BOT form, with a scale of 64 km.

Detailed technical planning

The route is designed with a width of 64m, with a scale of 10 low-speed urban lanes. The section from Tan Van intersection to Binh Chuan intersection is 15.3km long, coinciding with Ring Road 3, with an elevated road of 8 express lanes and 2 emergency lanes. The design speed of the main route is 80km/h; cross-roads is 60-80km/h.

A section of the My Phuoc - Tan Van route has been completed in scale, passing through many large industrial parks, with high traffic density. Regarding the scale of the project, the route connecting from Tan Van intersection to Ho Chi Minh road, is 64 m wide, with a scale of 10 low-level urban lanes.

Synchronous transport infrastructure

The project completes 19 intersections including:

• 2 overpasses in the direction of the crossroad (crossing My Phuoc - Tan Van road) at the intersection of Balanxi and DH 601, scale of 2 mixed lanes, total width of 12m
• 10 underpasses include: 1 underpass along My Phuoc - Tan Van road (4 lanes, 20m wide) at Pham Ngoc Thach intersection; 9 underpasses along crossroads (2-4 lanes, 13-20m wide) at D1, Thuan An Hoa, Thu Khoa Huan, Tran Ngoc Len, NE8, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Huynh Van Luy, Vo Van Kiet intersections and National Highway 13
• 2 toll stations at Km11+345 (An Phu station) and Km21+635 (Suoi Giua station)
• The remaining intersections are being renovated and traffic organization adjusted to increase traffic capacity.

Invest in building an underpass along My Phuoc – Tan Van road with a scale of 4 lanes for motor vehicles, total tunnel width (inside) of 20 m. Located at the intersection between My Phuoc – Tan Van road and Pham Ngoc Thach road.

Construct 9 cross-road underpasses (under My Phuoc - Tan Van road) with a scale of 2 - 4 lanes at intersections on the route.

Investment structure and progress

The project is divided into 2 components:

• Component project 1 : Compensation, support and resettlement, public investment with 100% state budget capital, total amount of 8,012.7 billion VND (accounting for 39.75%)
• Component project 2 : Completed construction under BOT form, total amount of 12,146 billion VND (accounting for 60.25%)

The total investment for the entire proposed project (excluding interest during construction) is VND19,064 billion, of which the preliminary construction cost is about VND11,051 billion. The previously invested part is included in the total investment of VND3,000 billion; the newly completed investment part of 19 intersections and other items is VND8,051 billion.

Regarding progress, carry out procedures for selecting investors and signing project contracts from the third to fourth quarter of 2025; appraise and approve EIA reports from the third to fourth quarter of 2025. Site clearance work from the third quarter of 2025 to the third quarter of 2026; construction implementation from the fourth quarter of 2025 to 2027; handover and put the project into operation in 2027.

Impact and warning

The current status of My Phuoc - Tan Van route is seriously overloaded due to high traffic density, especially container trucks traveling together with motorbikes. When completed, the project will solve congestion, improve traffic capacity, and at the same time collect fees to recover capital for investors.

Current traffic situation on My Phuoc - Tan Van road, because it is the axis connecting industrial parks and transporting goods, the axis has many large vehicles passing through, most of the road has a situation of container trucks traveling together with motorbikes.
