Free railway transport of martyrs' remains and relatives

Vietnam Railways Corporation said that with the tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source" and to show gratitude to those who have contributed to the country, the railway has decided to transport the remains of martyrs and their relatives free of charge on passenger trains in 2024.

Specific applicable policy: Free transportation of martyrs' remains on luggage carriages of passenger trains running on the North-South railway lines from Southern stations to stations in the Central and Northern regions.

Passengers who are relatives of martyrs traveling on the same train will also be exempted from tickets. A maximum of two relatives can travel on the same train with one martyr's remains.

The journey has departure and arrival stations which are all railway stations with regulations on trains stopping passenger and luggage operations.

Regarding transportation conditions, martyrs' remains are transported as checked baggage, must travel on the same train as relatives and complete transportation procedures at least two hours before the train departs at stations that accept baggage.

When completing transportation procedures, the martyr's relatives (or authorized person) must present the "Request for transportation of martyr's remains to their homeland by train" issued by the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs (original) and the Minutes of handover of martyr's remains (certified copy).

The packaging of martyrs' remains is carried out by the martyrs' relatives (or authorized persons) in charge of transportation procedures, ensuring environmental hygiene, epidemic prevention, safety during transportation and is confirmed by the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs.

Regarding ticket purchase and train travel procedures, when purchasing train tickets, relatives of martyrs must present valid identification documents along with the "Request for transporting martyrs' remains back to their homeland by train" from the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs (original) to ticket sellers at the train station ticket booths.

When boarding the train, you must present a valid identification document that matches the information printed on your Train Boarding Pass.

Hanoi and Saigon Railway Transport Joint Stock Companies request that units create all conditions to support martyrs' relatives in purchasing tickets and completing procedures to transport martyrs' remains quickly, conveniently and safely during the transportation process.
