According to Soompi, on March 2 - just one day after the Korean Film Council announced that "Exhuma" (Vietnamese title: Ghost Tomb Digging) had surpassed 4 million moviegoers, this star-studded production officially reached 5 million viewers.

“Exhuma” hit theaters on February 22, meaning it took less than 10 days to sell 5 million tickets. The film reached this milestone four days faster than the recent blockbuster “12.12: The Day,” which was the biggest box office success of 2023 and the 6th highest-grossing film in Korean box office history.

To celebrate “Exhuma” becoming the first Korean film of 2024 to surpass 5 million moviegoers, the film’s producer released a special poster of the four main characters played by Lee Do Hyun, Kim Go Eun, Choi Min Sik, and Yoo Hae Jin, stimulating the curiosity of global audiences.

“Exhuma” is a supernatural mystery horror film that unravels the bizarre events involving a feng shui master (Choi Min Sik), an undertaker (Yoo Hae Jin), and two shamans (Kim Go Eun and Lee Do Hyun) as they relocate mysterious graves in exchange for a hefty sum of money.

Although he is currently in the process of enlisting in the army, on March 1, actor Lee Do Hyun shared photos with the actors of "Exhuma" and sent a thank you message to the audience.

“I am currently performing my military service so I cannot meet everyone. I apologize for having to use these words to directly express my feelings to my beloved friends.

I read the news about the movie Exhuma in the newspaper and was going to share the joy with everyone, but I just opened my eyes and saw that the movie had already surpassed 4 million tickets.

I don't know what achievements the movie can achieve in the future, but I sincerely thank the fans and audiences who went to the theater to see the movie.

Right now I'm soldier Lim Dong Hyun (real name Lee Do Hyun - PV), but next year I'll come back as actor Lee Do Hyun and I'll definitely meet you guys in person to say thank you, and I'll show you a more mature side of me.
