Thang Long – Hanoi Festival 2025: Cultural, tourism and creative meeting point of the Capital

The first Thang Long - Hanoi Festival 2025 will take place from tomorrow, November 1 to 16, with more than 30 diverse activities in many fields, in many different spaces of Hanoi.

The event is expected to become an attractive cultural and tourist highlight of the capital in the fall. Up to now, preparations are complete, promising to bring unique experiences to residents and visitors.

Diverse cultural activities

“Thang Long – Hanoi Festival 2025” with the theme “Heritage – Connection – Era” is directed by the Hanoi People’s Committee, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with many units. In the first time of organization, the festival will have a series of activities and events lasting 16 days with a large number of cultural and artistic programs held at many locations including: Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam, Ngoc Son Temple, Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square…

Director Pham Hoang Giang said that the opening ceremony taking place on the evening of November 7 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel will be an art night with a clear creative mark, combining traditional and modern elements, between folk artists and young artists. Technological elements with 3D and LED light projections will be used to bring a brilliant picture of Hanoi's heritage in the flow of contemporary music .

Within the framework of the Festival, the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam became the focal point with a series of large-scale cultural and educational activities, aiming to spread the value of knowledge, promote the tradition of learning of the nation, including: Displaying traditional craft products of the three capitals (Thang Long - Hue - Hoa Lu) and the Central Highlands provinces; introducing the culinary culture "Flavors of Hanoi"; fashion show "Ao Dai on the heritage road"; exhibition "Thanh Tan Hanoi"; art programs "Oh Hanoi", "Red River calls the great forest"...

Director of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam Le Xuan Kieu said that the Center has renovated and embellished the entire space of Ho Van and Thai Hoc area. Currently, artisans from craft villages in Hanoi, Hue, Ninh Binh and the Central Highlands provinces are ready to gather and introduce outstanding products of the craft villages such as: Bat Trang pottery, Ha Thai lacquer, Chuong village hats, Thuong Tin embroidery (Hanoi); lotus leaf hats, sedge crafts, sesame candy, Hue cakes (Hue); Kim Son sedge, Ninh Hai embroidery, burnt rice (Ninh Binh); brocade weaving, Ede coffee, Ngoc Linh ginseng (Central Highlands).

At Hanoi Museum, the public can visit the thematic exhibition “Archaeological discoveries from the Vuon Chuoi relic”, the art program “Eternal Moments”, the 4th Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival…

Deputy Director of the Tourism Promotion Center (Hanoi Department of Tourism) Nguyen Huu Viet said that 30 ao dai designers from the three regions of North - Central - South will tell the story of Vietnamese ao dai culture through designs as well as interactive activities and experiences with artisans.

Affirming the attractiveness of the Creative City

The Thang Long – Hanoi Festival was held for the first time to honor the value of thousand-year-old cultural heritage, spread the spirit of “Heritage – Connection – Era”, and affirm Hanoi’s position in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Le Thi Anh Mai said that this is a large-scale cultural and artistic event, expected to be held annually in the fall (from October to November every year) to affirm the brand of the Creative City, "Asia's most attractive autumn tourist destination", thereby contributing to the development of Hanoi's cultural industry.

“Hanoi plans to periodically organize festivals to not only position the capital's attractive cultural and tourism brand but also affirm the connecting role of the Creative City,” Ms. Le Thi Anh Mai informed.

According to director Pham Hoang Giang, at the Thang Long – Hanoi Festival, people and tourists will experience a unique cultural and artistic journey, where tradition meets contemporary. Many types of Hanoi heritage such as Cheo, puppetry, tug of war… will shine and inspire new creations.

Currently, along with organizing more than 30 attractive cultural events, the Organizing Committee has planned to promote and communicate in many forms to attract international visitors.

According to Ms. Le Thi Anh Mai, Hanoi city has signed a cooperation agreement with Vietnam Airlines. Therefore, the units will coordinate communication and introduce information about the festival on flights to attract domestic and foreign tourists to Hanoi on this occasion.

Deputy Director of the Hanoi Tourism Promotion Center Nguyen Huu Viet said that the unit has promoted on online tourism platforms such as Agoda and Traveloka, and sent information to accommodation and travel agencies to include the festival's activities in tours and routes introducing international visitors.

It can be seen that the Thang Long - Hanoi Festival 2025 with many exciting activities coming up promises to become an attractive cultural and creative meeting place for people and tourists. The event contributes to increasing the attraction of the capital, affirming Hanoi as a safe - attractive - quality destination, while realizing the aspiration to turn the capital into a cultural and creative industrial center of the country and the region.
