On the evening of May 7, the Vietnamese women's futsal team had an impressive opening performance at the Asian women's futsal tournament when they won 5-3 against the Hong Kong women's futsal team (China), after a dramatic score chase.
Right from the first minutes of the match, Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang’s players created pressure on the opponent’s field. However, the Hong Kong (China) women’s futsal team showed high concentration in defense, especially the ability to effectively mark people, making it difficult for Vietnam to approach the goal. In the first 10 minutes, there were not many opportunities for the red team.
However, the constant pressure from the Vietnamese women's futsal team gradually made the opponent lose confidence. Mistakes began to appear, Thanh Ngan and her teammates quickly took advantage to create a turning point in the match.
In the 13th minute, Chan Wing Sze lost the ball to Thanh Ngan. The seemingly harmless situation unexpectedly turned into a goal after Chan Wing Sze retreated to clear the ball but accidentally changed direction and flew into his own net, opening the score for Vietnam. Just one minute later, Thanh Ngan continued to shine with a sprint from the home field, passing Chan Wing Sze before accurately finishing to increase the score to 2-0.
In the 15th minute, Halasan rekindled hope for Hong Kong (China) with a close-range shot to reduce the score to 1-2. However, before the end of the first half, Chan Wing Sze continued to make a mistake when Thu Xuan stole the ball and scored, raising the score to 3-1 for Vietnam.
Leading by 2 goals after the first half gave the Vietnamese women's futsal team full of confidence. However, in the second half, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang's team could no longer maintain the same position as before. In just the first 3 minutes of the second half, Hong Kong (China) scored 2 goals in a row.
In the 21st minute, Chiu Yiu accurately finished after a free kick combination to reduce the score to 2-3. In the 23rd minute, So Hoi Lam accelerated strongly and fired a powerful shot that broke the roof of the net, bringing the match back to a 3-3 balance.
After losing the advantage, the Vietnamese women's futsal team appeared confused and lacked sharpness in their attacks. However, the turning point of the match came in the 30th minute. From a free kick, Thu Xuan crossed for Nguyet Vi to run up and shoot low, defeating goalkeeper Chuek Wai, putting Vietnam ahead 4-3.
Just one minute later, Thanh Ngan continued to make her mark with a powerful free kick from close range, sealing a 5-3 victory for the Vietnamese women's futsal team.
The opening victory gives coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang's team a big advantage in the race for a ticket to the next round of the 2025 Asian women's futsal tournament.
