On the afternoon of November 5, the draw for the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship Finals took place in Jakarta (Indonesia) – the host of the tournament. As a result, the Vietnamese futsal team was placed in Group B with the current runner-up Thailand, Kuwait and Lebanon.

This is a group that gathers familiar opponents to the Vietnamese team, and is considered difficult but also opens up opportunities for coach Diego Giustozzi and his team in the competition for a ticket to continue.
According to the FIFA futsal rankings announced on August 29, the Vietnam futsal team (ranked 26th in the world ), Thailand (ranked 11th), Kuwait (ranked 43rd) and Lebanon (ranked 55th) promise to bring exciting confrontations right from the group stage.

The 2026 Asian Futsal Championship will take place from January 27 to February 7, 2026 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The tournament will bring together the 16 strongest teams in the continent, divided into 4 groups, competing in a round-robin format to select the top two teams in each group to advance to the quarter-finals. From the quarter-finals onwards, matches will take place in a knockout format to determine the Asian champion.
The Vietnamese futsal team is currently actively preparing for the 33rd SEA Games, with 20 players in the best form being called up for the upcoming meeting.
According to plan, after the Southeast Asian Games , coach Diego Giustozzi and his team will continue to focus on the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship.
It is expected that during this preparation period, the team will have an international friendly match with a guest, a top Asian futsal team, or go to Indonesia a week early to train and compete before entering the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship campaign.
