According to new data from Canalys, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has now entered the top 10 best-selling products list, marking the first time a premium Android smartphone has achieved this feat in six years. Last year's flagship Galaxy S24 series, which ranked ninth, recorded strong sales performance.

While Apple still holds the top spot in the market with the iPhone 15 being the best-selling product in 2024, the return of the Galaxy S24 Ultra series marks a significant step forward for the premium Android smartphone segment. "Samsung recorded its strongest S series sales since 2019, with a strong focus on the Ultra series," Canalys said in its report.
Samsung has more than just the Galaxy S24 Ultra in the Top 10
Besides the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Samsung also has two other phone models that also made the best-selling list, including the Galaxy A15 and Galaxy A15 5G, of which the Galaxy A15 is a cheap option with a price of 200 USD.
Apart from Samsung, other manufacturers such as Oppo, Huawei and Vivo also recorded modest growth in 2024. Overall, the global smartphone market grew 7% year-on-year, with shipments reaching 1.2 billion units, marking the highest annual growth since the pandemic broke out.
iPhone 15 is still the king of sales in 2024
"2024 is the year of comeback for the smartphone industry, with the highest global shipment volume post-pandemic. Demand has surged in the mass market segment, driven by the smartphone refresh cycle during the pandemic," said Canalys analyst Runar Bjørhovde.
In 2024, Samsung shipped a total of 222.9 million smartphones, just behind Apple's 225.9 million. The South Korean tech giant hopes to continue growing strongly in 2025 thanks to the recent launch of the Galaxy S25 series and the upcoming arrival of the Galaxy S25 Edge.
