Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the Department has reviewed all applications for direct admission to grade 10. The whole city has 944 candidates admitted directly to grade 10 in 2025. Of these, 81 students won national and international awards in sports . 105 students have physical disabilities. 758 students have intellectual disabilities.

According to the regulations of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the subjects eligible for direct admission to grade 10 for the 2024-2025 school year in Ho Chi Minh City include: Students with disabilities (with certificates as prescribed). Secondary school students who have won national prizes organized by the Ministry of Education and Training or in coordination with ministries and ministerial-level agencies organized nationwide for competitions, exams, and competitions on culture, arts, sports; scientific and technical research competitions. Secondary school students who have won prizes in international competitions selected by the Minister of Education and Training.

In particular, secondary school students who win prizes in national science and technology competitions (organized by the Ministry of Education and Training), or students who win international prizes in subjects under the General Education Program, will be allowed to register for direct admission to all high schools in Ho Chi Minh City (except specialized schools).

The 10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City took place on June 6-7 at 142 exam locations including 132 regular locations and 10 specialized locations, with a total of 3,277 exam rooms.

To ensure the exam takes place seriously and safely, the Department mobilized 9,548 teachers to supervise the exam and 1,846 support staff, and organized an inspection of facilities at the exam sites on June 4 and applied the same security procedures as the National High School Exam.
