Nearly 1,100 topics participated in the student econometrics competition

In the context of the country's strong transformation with the orientation of the key role of the private economy, high-quality human resources and strategic breakthroughs from science and technology, the National Student Science Competition "Econometrics and Applications Olympiad" has entered its 10th year of implementation.

On June 7, in Hanoi, the Academy of Finance held the 10th Anniversary Ceremony of the National Student Science Competition " Econometrics and Applications Olympiad" and the Opening Ceremony of the 10th Competition, 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Dao Tung, Director of the Academy of Finance, affirmed that the contest, jointly organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association, the Academy of Finance, and the Institute of Mathematics for many years, is not just a simple competition, but has become a symbol of serious academic spirit and passion for applying mathematical models, econometrics, and data science among students nationwide.

Over the past 10 years, the contest has recorded a total of 197 participating schools, 1,091 research topics submitted by more than 3,000 students, including topics from Vietnamese students abroad. This year, the contest has attracted 26 universities and academies to compete.

With theeducational philosophy of “Global Citizens in a Changing World”, the Academy is always steadfast in its three pillars: training-scientific research-community service.

Discussion on the 10-year mark of the Contest.

The Academy of Finance's vision for 2030 is to become one of the top 5 universities in Vietnam, aiming to be in the top 100 universities in Asia and the top 1,000 in the world by 2045. In particular, the "Econometrics and Applications Olympiad" is a continuous activity, contributing to realizing the aspiration.

On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union awarded the "Creative Youth" badge to a number of outstanding students with many outstanding achievements.
