
This is a key sports activity, part of the city's 2025 Plan, towards celebrating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2.
Taking place from May 27 to 30, the 1st Hanoi Wushu Open 2025 attracts the participation of nearly 200 athletes from 16 provinces, cities and sectors in the Northern region. The athletes will compete in 33 sets of medals, promising to bring beautiful, dramatic, thrilling and emotional performances.

In his opening speech, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Pham Xuan Tai, Head of the Organizing Committee, shared that wushu is a martial art introduced to the capital Hanoi in 1989. Since then, wushu has developed strongly in both breadth and depth. Up to now, the training movement has developed to nearly 20 provinces, cities and sectors nationwide and is a sport identified as a key focus of Vietnamese sports and Hanoi sports at the ASIAD and SEA Games. In particular, Hanoi wushu athletes are always the core force of the national team, have made outstanding contributions, bringing glory to the country's sports, typically: Nguyen Thuy Hien (won Gold Medal at the World Championship, Gold Medal at the Asian Championship); Duong Thuy Vi (won Gold Medal at the 2014 ASIAD Championship, Gold Medal at the World Championship and many SEA Games Gold Medals...

The 2025 Hanoi Open Wushu Championship, which is held for the first time, is an important sporting event. The Organizing Committee also hopes that the tournament will create more motivation to promote the Wushu training and competition movement to develop even more strongly. Through the tournament, it will help discover and nurture young talents, creating a premise to supplement the next generation of the Hanoi Wushu team and the national team, and at the same time, it is an opportunity to enhance exchanges and learning between localities, units, provinces, cities and sectors across the country.
