Lung village art troupe, Xuan Thai commune (Nhu Thanh) regularly performs for tourists .
It has become a tradition that every weekend, Muong ethnic women in Lap Thang village, Thach Lap commune (Ngoc Lac) gather at the cultural house to practice traditional songs and dances of their ethnic group. Vice President of Lap Thang village folk culture club Pham Thi Oanh said: Thanks to the increasingly developed community tourism in the locality, we women - who are used to holding knives and sickles all year round in the fields, now regularly participate in practicing performing arts to serve tourists... Currently, the club has attracted 60 members, all of whom love, are passionate about and understand the traditional cultural values of the Muong ethnic group.
To meet the cultural enjoyment needs of the people and serve tourists, the Club has actively practiced and collected to perform a variety of folk songs and dances such as gong playing, bamboo dancing, Muong Xuong... By participating in cultural and artistic activities, people not only meet and exchange with each other, but also contribute to reviving the folk songs and dances of their people and creating attraction for tourists when they come to visit and experience.
In Thach Lap commune, the majority of Muong ethnic people live. In addition to mobilizing Muong ethnic people to preserve the unique cultural features of the Muong ethnic group, the commune focuses on cultural and artistic activities based on mobilizing villages to establish art clubs and teams. Up to now, most villages in the commune have maintained the activities of many art clubs and teams that attract a large number of people to participate. In order to create conditions for the development of art clubs and teams, the commune has developed and implemented a plan to preserve and promote the traditional cultural identity of the Muong ethnic group; mobilize people, especially artisans and prestigious people in the villages to actively participate in activities to preserve Muong cultural identity; regularly organize competitions, performances, cultural and artistic exchanges so that art clubs and teams have the opportunity to exchange and meet... Thereby, improving the quality of performances serving community tourism in the area.
Xuan Thai Commune (Nhu Thanh) is also a locality with great potential for developing community tourism. Coming here, visitors can not only immerse themselves in the green natural scenery, experience many attractive types of tourism, but also join in the bustling cultural festival nights with the Thai ethnic people.
Ms. Trinh Thi Tu from Dong Luon village's art troupe shared: "I have been participating in the village's art troupe for many years. Usually, in the evening, we practice our ethnic performances together to prepare for holidays or happy days of the family, village, and hamlet. We also connect with community tourism spots in the commune to perform for tourists to visit and experience... Through practice sessions, songs, dances, customs, and practices in the area are increasingly preserved and promoted, creating more attraction for tourists to visit."
In recent years, thanks to the growing development of community tourism in many localities in the province, cultural and artistic activities have become more widespread, with more diverse and rich content and performance forms, not only becoming a useful spiritual food, attracting a large number of people to participate, but also creating more attraction for tourists to visit.
In order to improve the quality of performances to meet the increasing demand for cultural and artistic enjoyment of tourists, every year the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism develops a plan and deploys it to localities to encourage the establishment of art clubs and teams. At the same time, create all favorable conditions for art clubs and teams to operate regularly; organize training courses for members of art clubs and teams with contents such as skills in staging music and dance programs, composition and performance skills; guide the maintenance and development of local art clubs and teams; encourage artisans and people to participate in creating, preserving, teaching and promoting traditional cultural and artistic values, local specialties... Along with that, regularly organize competitions and art performances for the masses to attract a large number of people to participate.
Recently, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities in the province to organize the Thanh Hoa Provincial Mass Arts Festival in 2025. The festival gathered nearly 1,000 outstanding actors, artists and musicians from 22 mass art troupes of districts, towns and cities in the province. The performances participating in the festival are imbued with the cultural identity of traditional art forms of ethnic groups in the province. Through the festival, it aims to create conditions for artists, actors and musicians to meet, exchange and share experiences in cultural and artistic activities, contributing to preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of Thanh Hoa. At the same time, it introduces and promotes the traditional cultural values of ethnic groups in the province as well as the potential and strengths to develop tourism in Thanh Hoa.
