The liver has no sensory nerves, so most patients only discover the disease when it is in the late stages and the liver is severely damaged. Some warning signs of fatty liver disease moving to a dangerous stage include: prolonged fatigue, unexplained weight loss, loss of appetite, especially fear of greasy foods, mild but prolonged yellowing of the skin and eyes...
The liver is considered the body's "detoxification factory". Therefore, when the liver is weakened, nutrients can no longer be converted into energy. This makes people with fatty liver always feel tired, lack of energy for no apparent reason; uncontrollable weight loss. This is a very important stage, because the liver can no longer synthesize protein, causing cirrhosis; the next phenomenon is loss of appetite, fear of fat. The reason is that the liver's ability to secrete bile has become poor, unable to metabolize fat, causing the body to respond by feeling afraid to eat.
In addition, mild but prolonged jaundice and yellow eyes are also alarming signs of liver problems. According to oncology specialists at Ca Mau General Hospital, this is because bilirubin in the blood is not filtered out and begins to accumulate in the skin. This can be a warning sign that the liver is starting to be damaged in a severe stage. Many patients always have itchy skin rashes, with folds and darkening in some areas of the skin. The cause is that toxins accumulate in the liver, but the liver cannot process (eliminate).
Doctors visit patients at home to examine them and provide instructions on self-care methods.
A typical sign of severe fatty liver is mild pain in the right hypochondrium. Doctors say that this is when the liver is slightly inflamed or enlarged and a warning sign is that the patient always has sleep disorders, such as: Difficulty sleeping for a long time, not sleeping deeply and waking up early, accompanied by anxiety, irritability for no reason, and memory loss.
Talking about this issue, Dr. Nguyen Hong Cau, Deputy Director of the Center for Disease Control of Ca Mau province, said: “In fact, fatty liver not only causes damage to the liver, but it also leaves behind many serious complications such as hepatitis, cirrhosis and even cancer. According to global health statistics, about 30% of patients have fatty liver disease but it is not caused by alcohol or beer, and if these patients are not treated promptly, the risk of severe hepatitis is very difficult to avoid.”
“These complications are also known as: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is a common complication. Meanwhile, the symptoms are not clear, so it is difficult for patients to detect their own disease. In fact, fatty liver is not a disease that only appears in obese people, but even people with thin or average body shape can be infected with this dangerous disease. Therefore, fatty liver disease needs to be treated early, because the longer it is left, the higher the risk of liver fibrosis,” added Dr. Nguyen Hong Cau.
One of the common complications in patients with fatty liver is cirrhosis, especially for those with stage 3 fatty liver. Obviously, this is a disease that cannot be ignored, because the patient can completely suffer from complications leading to liver cancer, due to lack of timely monitoring and treatment. At that time, the treatment is no longer optimal.
